I just learned that instead of focusing all efforts on critical pieces of community infrastructure in Jasper – firefighters have been re-directed to save the Trans Mountain pipeline.
Here’s a petition to make big oil foot the bill for the climate catastrophe they are causing. https://act.leadnow.ca/Big-Oil-MTP/ #Jasper #Pyrocene #BigOil #ClimateCatastrophe #JasperFire #petition

Temperatures of 35°C used to be a rarity in Jasper.
Only 25 days that hot have been recorded in the past 110 years.
Of those, 12 have come since 2021, including 6 so far in 2024.

Reading about the fire in Jasper, my former home, while thick smoke rolls into Calgary, my current home.
We visited Jasper last week. Our 2-year-old said tonight: “I don’t want the fire in Jasper. I want to go back to Jasper.” He was so sad.
I thought I would be too.
But it just feels … numb.

I used to visit Jasper as a kid. It’s a gorgeous town. I hope the rain comes and helps the workers save the area. https://edmontonjournal.com/news/local-news/jasper-townsite-cleared-wildfire-evacuation #JasperFire #CanadaWildfires #Pyrocene
