#Croatia’s parliament hosted a shocking event where revisionists tried to downplay the #Jasenovac death camp, calling it a “labor camp.” Speakers echoed Holocaust-denier tactics, minimizing atrocities where nearly 100,000 Serbs, Jews, Roma, and anti-fascists were murdered.

The event, backed by far-right and tolerated by the government and church, shows how history is being twisted into nationalist propaganda — a warning about growing #fascist revisionism in #Europe.

Next to #Zagreb‘s 🇭🇷 main train station: the memorial for the victims of the #Shoah and the #Ustasha regime.
About 800 Jews from Zagreb were deported from here to #Auschwitz, in August 1942.
Many more, including Serbs, Roma and others, were murdered by the Ustasha in #Jasenovac concentration camp, about an hour away.

Combating historical revisionism about WWII crimes, incl. in history teaching and in the culture of remembrance, and fighting #HateSpeech are stepping stones on the path to building cohesive societies and ensuring such atrocities never happen again. #Jasenovac

#FascistCrimes — 262 Serbs were massacred by the Ustaše in Croatia's #Jasenovac death camp over 3 days as of #Otd 1942.

Most victims were transported from Sarajevo by the Ustasha (who had the support of the Nazis & Italian #Fascists) in December 1941.

Very few survived.
