  1. 🤔A note on 'ume' (梅)📢

Although we often translate 'ume' as 'plum blossoms' or the 'Japanese apricot' in English, the 'prunus mume' tree is actually related to both the apricot AND plum.

It is thus better to perhaps think of 'ume' on its own terms.

  2. Finally got a pictures of Japanese white-eye with Japanese Apricot flowers.

I used to go to Takaido Park every day, but the timing wasn't easy, like kids make loud noises, crows crawling loudly and turning around.

But today I didn't miss a chance to take pictures📸 of Japanese White eye🐦️

  5. It's a cloudy day☁... but the Japanese apricot (plum) trees are starting to bloom here and there!

The white Japanese apricot trees bloom a little later than the red ones.
The red blossoms turn black quickly, so I personally prefer the white ones 😆

The season is progressing step by step!
But I think another cold wave is coming...

  6. Finally found these Japanese apricot (plum) blossoms in Takaido Park and in the plum field of Ume shop.

If it was due to lack of cold weather until December, the Sakura (cherry blossoms) will be late this year, too!?

  7. My ID app tells me this gorgeous tree is a #JapaneseApricot.

The flower is a beloved subject in the traditional painting and poetry of countries including China, Korea, Vietnam, and Japan… and is usually called ‘plum blossom’.

The fruit of the tree is used in juices, as a flavouring for alcohol, as a pickle, and in sauces. It is also used in traditional medicine.

Despite its practical uses, this tree is undeniably visually divine!
