  6. Well, to say I fell in love the moment I set my eyes on this booming, bright #Bougainvillea is an understatement!

It’s the most magnificent one I’ve seen all #summer… and just look at the saturated growth of flowers. And the shades of pinks and what appears red shades throughout this beauty.

Not sure I’ve ever seen one so magnificent!

  7. #Lagerstroemia (also crepe myrtle, or crepeflower) is native to the Indian Subcontinent and also to Southeast Asia, China, Korea and Japan.

I believe my ID app has identified this correctly. I couldn’t get close to this one as it was set back in the front garden of its home in #Gardenvale #Australia.

But from afar it caught my eye and it certainly has the splendour fitting to share with the good folk of #mastodon!

  8. This is an original post from earlier today. I found a curious orange growth in Victoria, Australia, in the dead of our warm summer and was surprised to be honest.

A fellow #mastodian suggested it could be a Rainbow Bracket Fungus.

And another person (thanks @marklngs.aus.social) suggested I throw it to the experts at #FungiFriday to confirm or otherwise!

    Any ideas, thoughts?

    TIA! 👍

Some kind of #fungus or moss variant?

Managed to park and snap.
Any #fungi experts out there?

  9. I stumbled on this quite unique growth, just this morning in #CaulfieldSouth #Australia.

It’s called Leucadendron salignum, also known as the #commonsunshineconebush.

It’s a shrub native to South Africa, that produces several stems from the ground. It is from the family Proteaceae.

It survives the wildfires that occur periodically in its native country, by regrowing from an underground rootstock.

Apparently this wonderful plant is pollinated by beetles 🪲

The red / scarlet colouring of the inside surfaces of its leaves are the most appealing aspect for mine.

This plant flowers (first one opening in pic 2), so I’ll definitely be back to post an update in a few weeks.

  10. Alright, it's February 1st, let's continue on from the wonderful JanuaryJoy hashtag to the new FebruaryFun one!

This white swan here wants to chime in by making sure you all have a great day. That bridge in the background is the famous Charles Bridge in Prague, but "I'm the real star of this city!" the swan says 😄
