The Associated Press: The judge assigned to Trump's Jan. 6 case is a tough punisher of Capitol rioters

“People gathered all over the country last year to protest the violent murder by the police of an unarmed man. Some of those protesters became violent,” Chutkan said during an October 2021 hearing.
“But to compare the actions of people protesting, mostly peacefully, for civil rights, to those of a violent mob seeking to overthrow the lawfully elected government is a false equivalency and ignores a very real danger that the Jan. 6 riot posed to the foundation of our democracy.”

I would just like to comment at how stunned I was to read the comments by an unnamed lawyer - Lawyer - with regard to the fake elector slates:
"I guess there's no harm in it ..."
" We'd be just ... "A lawyer! No hint of potential criminal jeopardy for violation of voting acts, voters rights, the State constitution.

Today marks the start of a process that may result in a former president of the United States convicted of crimes to subvert the nation he swore to defend. It's been a long time since Jan. 6, 2021, and we're finally seeing the results. No one deserves punishment more than Trump.
That said, it's sad that it had ever come to this, and sadder still that tens of millions of people still support Donald Trump, and would vote for him again. -
