"When you're on a good path: It's only a failure if you stop. It's a lesson if you keep going.
When you're on a bad path: It's only a failure if you keep going. It's a lesson if you stop." #JamesClear

"Clarity isn't about knowing what you want to do with your life, it's about knowing what you want to do this week. You don't need to have it all figured out. You just need to know your next step." #JamesClear

“Large, sweeping changes often sound good in theory, but the faster you try to change your life, the more likely you are to backslide. Real change is inch by inch. Go out and win the next five minutes." #JamesClear

Bamboo can barely be seen for the first five years as it builds extensive root systems underground before exploding ninety feet into the air within six weeks.

Finished reading Atomic Habits by James Clear.
A very practical book for anyone who wants to change something in their life or move closer to a goal.
The ideas are simple, clear, and easy to apply. Some of them I was already using intuitively, but a few insights felt genuinely fresh — and definitely worth much more than the time spent reading the book.

"Luck flows through people and travels by conversation. The people you talk to determine the opportunities you find."

"The best view of the game is probably from the stands. But that's not where the action is."

If you can get 1 percent better each day for one year, you’ll end up thirty-seven times better by the time you’re done.
Conversely, if you get 1 percent worse each day for one year, you’ll decline nearly down to zero.
What starts as a small win or a minor setback accumulates into something much more.

"Unexpected forms of generosity:
- Being early can be a form of generosity. You wait, so they don't have to.
- Leaving something unsaid can be a form of generosity. You don't always need the last word.
- Delivering your work on time can be a form of generosity. You make life easier for everyone downstream.
- Not taking things personally can be a form of generosity. You give people the space to say things imperfectly." -
"Questions are answered as you move, not before you move. Moving forward with an answer that is partially correct will usually fill in the gaps faster than waiting until you come up with a plan that is perfectly correct." #JamesClear

“You are not your grand plans. You are your daily patterns." #JamesClear

"Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become. No single instance will transform your beliefs, but as the votes build up, so does the evidence of your new identity." #JamesClear
-
"New goals don't deliver new results. New lifestyles do. And a lifestyle is a process, not an outcome. For this reason, all of your energy should go into building better habits, not chasing better results." #JamesClear
-
"It is nearly impossible to have your best idea the first time you think about something.
The most likely way to uncover important insights is to frequently revisit a problem. The longer you're in the game, the more ideas bubble up to the surface.
Time unlocks insights." #JamesClear

“If you never pause, you confuse activity with effectiveness. Make time to think. Walk outside. Sit quietly. Create space. Then move again, but this time on purpose.” #JamesClear

"Optimize for your desired lifestyle, not your desired title." #JamesClear

"My favorite type of mental toughness is not forcing one path, but being open to many paths: Whatever comes my way, I can handle it. Whatever resources I have, I can make it work. Whatever the day brings, I can thrive."

"When things don't go well it's easy to wonder, "Why me?" It's easy to point fingers. It's easy to wallow in frustration or defeat.
But it is also easy to ask, "What is this teaching me?"
You can't remove the frustrations from life, but you can always try to come out a little wiser on the other side."
-
"It might be a good opportunity on paper, but if it isn't the type of thing you want to spend all day working on, then you probably won't stick with it. And if you won't stick with it, then it's not a good opportunity for you." #JamesClear
-
"In the long-run (and often in the short-run), your willpower will never beat your environment. The more disciplined your environment is, the less disciplined you need to be. Don't swim upstream." #JamesClear

"Three keys to improvement:
Do you start quickly?
Do you learn from your mistakes quickly?
Do you stay in the game and keep trying?" -
"You have to run your own race. Problems begin the moment you start comparing your results to someone who is playing under different conditions.
...
Play your own game. Emphasize gradual progress and keep the comparison internal. Are you getting a little better today?" #JamesClear

"One way to instantly gain a competitive edge is to work on things that genuinely interest you. The person who is having fun has a better chance of winning because they are more likely to stick with it when things get challenging.
If it felt like a hassle from the start, you're likely to quit as soon as things get tough. But if you've been having fun the whole time, you're better positioned to work through the hard parts." #JamesClear

"Motivation often increases after you begin. The lesson is not to wish you had more motivation, but to make starting as easy as possible."
