La paix du jaïnisme

Chez les adeptes du jaïnisme, l’idéal de paix atteint sans doute son expression avancée et la plus systématique de toutes les traditions que nous avons parcourues, car la non-violence n’y est pas un principe éthique parmi d’autres, mais littéralement l’axe autour duquel s’organise toute la métaphysique et toute la pratique.

Ainsi, la non-violence ne concerne pas seulement les actes, elle inclut les pensées et les paroles et elle s’étend à toute forme de vie sensible, y compris les organismes les plus infimes. La paix, ici, commence par une cosmologie de la vulnérabilité universelle qui implique que chaque parcelle de réalité porte une âme capable de souffrir, donc chaque geste engage une responsabilité cosmique. La paix n’est pas une disposition intérieure seulement, elle est une vigilance concrète et perpétuelle envers le vivant.

Pour les jaïns, la violence naît fondamentalement de l’avidité, de la peur de manquer, du désir de posséder ou de contrôler, une position qui rejoint le bouddhisme. La paix sociale, pour les jaïns, ne peut se construire tant que subsiste l’accumulation excessive, une idée qui a directement influencé Mahatma Gandhi dans sa pensée de la non-violence politique.

Un apport singulier du jaïnisme est de situer la source du conflit non seulement dans le désir, mais dans la certitude dogmatique. Nous devons reconnaître la multiplicité des points de vue et qu’aucune affirmation n’épuise la vérité d’une chose complexe, chaque perspective n’en saisit qu’un aspect partiel. Cette posture d’humilité vise à désamorcer les conflits nés de l’absolutisation d’un seul point de vue.

L’horizon ultime est la libération, où l’âme, débarrassée de tout karma, retrouve sa nature propre : omniscience, énergie infinie et surtout béatitude infinie, un état de repos parfait. Contrairement au nirvāṇa bouddhiste, souvent décrit en termes d’extinction ou de non-substantialité, l’âme jaïne libérée subsiste pleinement, c’est une paix de plénitude accomplie, non de dissolution.

En somme, le jaïnisme place la non-violence au cœur de son approche. Là où le bouddhisme voit la paix dans la dissolution de l’attachement, le jaïnisme y ajoute une cosmologie de la responsabilité envers toute vie sensible, faisant de la non-violence non un idéal parmi d’autres, mais la loi physique même de la libération de l’âme. Et là où le judaïsme et le christianisme ancrent la paix dans la justice historique et la réconciliation communautaire, le jaïnisme la fait reposer sur une discipline personnelle plus contraignante. Le jaïnisme est l’une des sources directes de la non-violence gandhienne comme stratégie politique de paix basée sur l’exemplarité.

Dans un monde où tout le monde parle de paix, est-ce que nous avons la même conception de celle-ci ? Est-ce que les écarts expliqueraient en partie les conflits qui perdurent ?

4) I would love to be eaten. The ultimate #recycling and a fitting end to my mostly #omnivore tendencies. Who is with me? Too gruesome for thine refined tastes?

5) Is it time to capture and tag/track our rarest guest animals to manage our illegal human hunter population. Maybe it could be added to our Black project list for future assessment and exposure?

Feed the imagined. Protect the Wild. Hunt the entitled.

1. Brought up a drowned/baptised Cat-alcoholic teetotaller from a #Protestant lineage
2. Interested in #Witchcraft, #Buddhism and Father #Christmas from an early age
3. Keen on enlightenment, avoiding #Nuns, #Magick 🫠

Somehow, as you may know, By the Grace of #Almighty COD, these interests drove me #insane, #woke and #empathic, in no particular order.

Obviously I eventually had to order the chaos. Joined several orderings to sort my life and laff out. I did and can now re-veil and #reveal:

1. There is no cad but C-D or #Yodin as she is sometimes known ​:gi:​
2. #Breathing is a useful indication of #life but not essential in Samadhi ​:ablobcatcoffee:​
