New Zealand’s Prime Minister #Jacinda Ardern, who has led the country since 2017, is #resigning from office. With #emotion in her voice, she told the #press that she would not be seeking reelection. In her resignation #speech, #ardern said the “cumulative challenges” her team has faced has “taken its toll.” Jacinda Ardern’s term as prime minister will conclude no later than February 7.

Jacinda Ardern's statement regarding her stepping down is pure class. She is by no means perfect but above and beyond any other leader in any western democracy in the last 50 years.
Unfortunately based on the latest polls it looks like bullshit populism is on the rise in New Zealand as well. Interestingly, I will be there to watch the transition unfold in real time.
