Dostawca Apple otwiera drugą fabrykę obudów AirPods w Indiach

Firma Jabil, dostawca Apple, planuje otwarcie drugiej fabryki produkującej obudowy do AirPods w Indiach – tym razem w Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu), informuje DigiTimes.

Obecnie Jabil wytwarza plastikowe obudowy w zakładzie w Pune, ale w ramach rozszerzenia działalności planuje zwiększyć produkcję w Indiach. Spotkanie z premierem stanu Tamil Nadu już się odbyło, a decyzje dotyczące budowy mają zapaść do lipca 2025 roku.

To kolejny krok Apple w kierunku dywersyfikacji łańcucha dostaw poza Chiny, z uwagi na napięcia handlowe i niepewność celną. Obudowy AirPods produkowane w Indiach trafiają do montażowni w Chinach i Wietnamie.

Apple już teraz produkuje około 20% iPhone’ów w Indiach, a do końca przyszłego roku większość iPhone’ów na rynek USA ma pochodzić właśnie stamtąd. Rosnąca rola Indii w strategii Apple została także podkreślona podczas ostatniego raportu finansowego firmy.

Nowe plany Jabil pojawiają się miesiąc po tym, jak Foxconn rozpoczął produkcję AirPods w nowej fabryce w Hyderabad o wartości 400 mln USD.
