Well, theres strong demand but divergent availability of supply. In #MURB #condo projects >80% of people are requesting NACS over #J1772, and for good reason. With almost all OEMs adopting NACS for the 2025 model year it makes perfect sense. For #EV owners with older cars, NACS>J1772 adapters are readily available for about $125.
The supply uncertainty is enabling some hardware makers to raise prices on the new ports. Perhaps we’ll see discounts on J1772 stock in short order. #YVR

EV owners! Is anyone successfully charging a J1772 electric vehicle off a 110v outlet that is ~30ft from the car?
I have a friend who wants to be able to charge her 2024 Kia Sportage PHEV off a regular 110v outlet at her house (no GFI), but their parking is too far from the outlet for their current plug-in cable to reach. I'm trying to help her find a solution since she's underwater with kids & holidays... (NB: I don't know diddly about EV charging, I just have more free time than she does, so I offered to try to find her a solution - ideally one that won't burn her house down.)
My initial thought was that she needs a 25-30ft Level 1 J1772 plug-in cable, but of course it's not that simple.
Looks like there are a variety of charger extension cables, but most are L2 / require an adapter to use a 110v outlet, which seems like it'd add a point of resistance / potential heat buildup, and very few are UL listed.If anyone is doing this successfully, I'd love to know your solution!

I have a Level 2 charger my #ID4Pro #EV at home. I also have a #ChargePoint #EVGo & an #ElectrifyAmerica account.
However, I believe in #BeingPreprared. So, I bought a #J1772 to #NACS #Tesla adapter but I'd only use a Tesla #Supercharger (or destination charger) as a last resort (because I have issues with #Musk ) & haven't even downloaded the Tesla charging app yet, so I can't even use a Tesla charger yet but . . .
Here's an interesting article to those who are interested in #EVs published by #ConsumerReports about their experience charging certain non-Tesla EVs at #Tesla #Superchargers with a J1772 to NACS (Tesla) adapter or with Tesla's #MagicDock . . .

@SteveInVentura I bought a #J1772 to #Tesla adapter to use when the day comes. It's currently in the back of my #iD4 Pro. Never will buy/lease a Tesla. So, it will also be in the back of any other EV that I lease later for that day as well.

We were at this destination charging location earlier today. There was a #Tesla wall connector and a generic #J1772 charger. I wasn’t going to use the J1772, but the joke’s on me, the Tesla wall connector was broken and emitting errors. I ended up using the J1772 with the adapter, which was 32A instead of 48A, but at least it worked.
I don’t think it’s a build quality issue tho that the TWC broke. I think it’s because the TWC was just used way more than the J1772. -

As power standards in the US are complicated, the charging cable #BMW provides here only plugs into a slow standard 110V (15A) socket. So, I've switched to using the Tesla Mobile Connector with a #TeslaTap adapter (#J1772).
This decreases the charging time at home by 4X and has adapters for a larger series of plug types while on the road (220V 20,30,50A, 110V 15A,20A & more), not to mention #Tesla Destination chargers.

Ran my first errand with the #BMW #CE04 today: a critical burrito run to Cosmic Cantina. It was a ride easily done by bicycle (4.2mi round trip the safe way), but it felt like freedom nonetheless. It received two random compliments from nearby pedestrians, including "That's the most unusual looking BMW I've ever seen".
I also tried the #Tesla to #J1772 converter (#TeslaTap Mini) for charging - it works beautifully for medium-speed charging!
