Last week we finished watching Frauds on ABC. Hectic and very funny. A wicked nest of vipers working together, mostly, for a big heist. Fantastic talent in Suranne Jones and Jodie Whittaker, with great supporting actors. Strong recommend.

Just finished watching Can You Keep A Secret? Screamingly funny. Headlined by Dawn French and Mark Heap, nonstop English comedy. Even a Midsomer Murders reference. Highly recommended.

Two things I learnt recently about the ABC that saddens me:
1. They killed the iview app
2. I can no longer Chromecast from the ABC listen app. -
ABC has a documentary about the art fraudster Inigo Philbrick, and it's beautifully pieced together with snippets of interviews from the main characters (and there's plenty of Main Characters). Highly entertaining. Like other docos about the high dollar art dealing world it pulls back the curtain on some really shifty business, and there's none shifter than Inigo's.
It may well have been an attempt by the fraudster and his girlfriend to soften his image. But I reckon you'd have to not be paying attention for that to work. The interview cuts are perfect, playing one person's perspective against another's.
If you have an interest in true fraud stories, it's well worth the time.

with abeMeda 7.8.7 we have now established much better access to the stored data in our catalogs, mainly the stored previews. With the hugely enhanced Photo Export you can now make use of the generated previews, even if the original files may not (or no longer) be available.
And you can of course not only export and convert photos, but many more media files (like videos, audio files' cover art, PDFs, books [ePub] or comics [CBR|CBZ], ...) - any files' previews can also be exported now.

abeMeda 7.8.7 is a comprehensive new release with a number of improvements and important fixes overall. It brings new formats like OGG, WMA, JXL or FCPX support, and now offers a new WinCatalog import and many new options in the Find Editor (like relative dates, seasons or GPS altitude). Really enjoyed the first two seasons of Professor T. Yes, he's another pompous always-right smarter-than-the-cops investigator, but there's actual character and introspection. By the end of season two, relationships have changed a lot from where the show began.
Easy watch, entertaining. Not too aggravating. 👍

This week we finished watching The One That Got Away (a.k.a. Cleddau), a Welsh crime thriller. Excellent, messy from the first episode and only got messier. Did not see the end coming until it suddenly revealed itself. Would recommend.

CW: Picasso, DV triggers
Saw the 2023 doco on Picasso, three parts. A close up look at the man, the monster, the artist, and the family debris he left behind. Being a bit of an art doco tragic I already had a good idea of what sort of animal he was, but this doco has dug deep with archive material, artworks, and living family. Not for the faint of heart, but a strong summary of who Picasso really was.

Finished watching the show Boat Story last night. Crikey!
I'm always up for a good comedy-thriller, and this did not disappoint. But note well, it's got a lot of bloody violence in it, and most other content warning triggers too.
But bloody funny! And full of surprises. Some excellent caricatures of characters. A touch of the bizarre, and the macabre. Rollicking good fun!

ABC iView (in Australia) has a doco about the science of carbon capture in forests. Well worth the watch if you are interested in the how, the how much, and the why. NB: not about planting a trillion trees!
