  1. It has pockets!
Or rather, a pocket. I was a bit baffled at first as to where they could possibly have fit it. The answer, it turns out, is...at the back.

  2. For #FungiFriday here's my new, locally-sourced full-circle skirt with mushroom print. Lot of fabric, #SkirtGoSpinny! And #ItHasPockets!

  3. Life is proceeding quite pleasantly at the moment! Temperatures have been low and snowfall has been high, making for crappy driving and beautiful landscapes. Bestie and I walk and consume coffee and baked goods on Thursday mornings.
Lots of #sewing and #korean #LanguageLearning is occurring and I won the "Gwenchana" hoodie, which I hope to modify with an added #pocket.
Yogurt is currently being made and I'm making many more connections and purchases for my upcoming #korea #travel

  4. Finished making myself a dress! Very comfy and I love it.
Linen-cotton blend, pattern based on yansewing.com/2018/04/blog-pos
Rather crumpled after a day's wear with a broad leather belt (not shown).
Second photo shows the dress inside out.

Yes. I primarily sew because #pockets! Everything I sew has pockets and I've gone back and added 5x7" pockets to my knit garments with black jersey that I have on hand. On woven garments, I typically cut out 8x8" for the pockets so I can lay a phone in sideways (more secure. Placement of the pockets is important, as is depth so I keep experimenting with locations that will hold valuables secure when sitting or standing.

Some of the delights of sewing are choosing the colours/fabrics that you love and #pockets

Please share your results! This last week, I determined that 5x7" were the perfect dimensions for a stretch #pocket to add to the numerous knit garments that I have, mistakenly made without #pockets. I've remedied that on several used garments and added a phone pocket to a newly-made garment.

I'm pretty happy with the Chanterelle Pants by Sew Liberated. The most critical thing for pants is the rise, front and back. Anyway, this particular pattern and a PJ pattern that I got from the big sewing shops both fit me well where it counts. I also REALLY like the deep pockets that are sewn on. I first made the shorts from a used flannelette sheet to wear as PJs and I really liked them. What we like is personal, of course. #sewing #ItHasPockets

  9. #MeMadeMay #HinterlandDress made from vibrant thrifted cotton. In the chaos of preparing to leave on a 4-week #camping #RoadTrip. Comfy driving dress for today’s 6-hour journey. #sewing #ItHasPockets

  10. #MeMadeMay Out and about running errands in my #HinterlandDress, a bit oversized, sewn with a vibrantly coloured thrifted cotton.

Another iteration of the #StasiaDress, this time made with a mystery thrifted knit that is very stretchy. Again, the very wide, deep neckline means that I won't wear it much out of the house but it's super comfy and fun, otherwise.

  12. #MeMadeMay one of my first projects and a favourite. Scrubs as PJs. $3/metre broadcloth and Okinawa cottons for the pockets. #sewing #ItHasPockets

  13. #MeMadeMay
Jersey raglan tee made from a thrifted men's pattern and #ChanterellePants made from thrifted broadcloth and Bali batik pockets.

  14. First draft of the #StasiaDress with a thrifted knit with very little stretch. It’s a fun dress to wear and #ItHasPockets. #sewing #MeMadeMay

#sewing is the magic that creates dresses with #pockets. It's a fabulous craft, well worth the discomfort of a learning curve!
