Israeli journalist Arad Nir faced backlash after describing the Israeli-planned “city of refuge” 🙄 in #Rafah for Gazans as a "concentration camp". He later apologized on social media, clarifying his intent was to criticize the plan as immoral rather than to offend. Other broadcasters present during the original remarks suggested the comparison was inappropriate and historically insensitive.

What’s really disgusting here is the fact that Israeli media now refers to the proposed Rafah concentration camp as a “city of refuge”, a facility being built to shelter and provide food to Palestinians whom they intend to isolate from Hamas. Interestingly, the same people who up until recently claimed that “there are no uninvolved” in Gaza...

Gaza has been a concentration camp with severely limited food supply for the past two decades, since Israel withdrew and imposed a relentless blockade. The blockade has created a cycle of poverty and dependence on the underground tunnel economy, which Israel then used against the Palestinians after October.

On March 17-18, an Israeli airstrike killed 436 Palestinians according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. Among the dead: 183 children, 94 women, and 34 elderly people over 65. The attack began at 2:20 AM during Ramadan when many were preparing for suhoor meal. Israeli media described it as "one of the greatest preemptive operations in military history". Channel 12 News claimed "400 militants killed" while Maariv reported "300 terrorists liquidated".

#Palestine / IDF Soldier Suspended After Throwing Stun Grenade at Palestinian Car with Children

An #IDF soldier was suspended from duty after being recorded throwing a stun grenade into a Palestinian vehicle containing two children in Hebron's Old City.

The incident occurred during a night patrol when the soldier approached a Palestinian driver making a U-turn and, for reasons unclear, threw the grenade into the car.

The IDF has ordered an investigation by the Military Police Criminal Investigation Division. While information about the victims' well-being is crucial for a complete understanding of the incident and its consequences, #Ynet, at least, doesn't seem to think their readers might want to know.

Footage shows the Palestinian driver fleeing the scene with smoke coming from the car windows.

This incident comes amid ongoing investigations into other cases of alleged misconduct by Israeli soldiers, including the abuse of a a Palestinian detainee in Sde Teiman, involving five reserve soldiers currently under house arrest. And an indictment against Reserve Sergeant Israel Hagbi for multiple instances of violence against Palestinian detainees during transports between February and June.

#Israel / Noa Argamani denies fake reports in Israeli media she was beaten in captivity

"They beat me all over my body, my hair was cut," was quoted in quotation marks on the front page of "Israel Hayom", attributed to the released hostage Noa Argamani as a "shocking testimony".

But according to Noa Argamani herself, Israeli media is using her to spread fake news.

"I cannot ignore what happened here in the media in the last 24 hours, things were taken out of context. I was not beaten and my hair was not cut," she wrote on her Instagram account, "I was in a building that was bombed by the Air Force.

'At the end of this week, after the shooting, as I said, I had cuts all over my head, and I was injured all over my body'. (I emphasize that I was not beaten but was injured all over my body from the building collapsing on me). As a victim of October 7, I will not allow myself to be victimized again by the media."
