"The Treasury Department released a statement on Monday saying that it would sanction the Amana the Settlement Movement of Gush Emunim Central Cooperative Association Ltd and Binyanei Bar Amana Ltd.

"Amana has allegedly played a "key part" in the Israeli extremist settlement movement, according to the Treasury department, and maintained ties to other groups the U.S. previously sanctioned.
"It said Binyanei Bar Amana was a construction and development company that built and sold homes in settlements and outposts in the West Bank.
"The Treasury said Amana provided a loan to Israeli settler Isaschar Manne and also served as a partner in the formation of the outpost Meitarim Farm. Both Isaschar Manne and Meitarim Farm were sanctioned on July 11.
"Newsweek reached out to the Department of the Treasury by email on Monday for comment.
"Settlements on the West Bank have been established by Israelis since the 1967 Six-Day War. Most of the international community considers the area to be #occupied #Palestinian land, as well as a violation of #InternationalLaw. Israel disputes this and sees the settlements as historical. Settlements range from small outposts to full towns that house hundreds of Israelis.
"In 2019, the then-#Trump administration abandoned the U.S.'s position that the settlements were illegal. President Joe Biden, however, reverted the position in 2021."
