  1. Endured a rough passage to the Isles of Scilly this morning on the “vomit comet” to be rewarded with a blustery but sunny evening walk along Par Beach on St Martin’s / Breghyek.

  6. Today’s #IslesofScilly post is all about Tresco where we wandered for miles. We saw spectacular views, loads of red squirrels and mothman posed majestically as a figurehead in the Valhalla ships figurehead graveyard.

  7. Part 1: At Sea

Excuse fuzziness. Operating an iPhone whilst bobbing like a cork on water isn’t easy!!

Today, Mothman and Mothman’s Mr Spouse went #wildlife searching around the Scilly Isles, firstly on a boat where we saw #puffins, #guillemots and #razorbills, atlantic #seals and a distant #PeregrineFalcon.

Not on photo, but we also saw #cormorants and even bagged a couple of #shags

  9. I've started #painting the big blue wobbly bits on my #handpainted map of the #IslesOfScilly.

I do it as a series of small very wet washes so I can constantly keep an eye on that tricky leading edge.

Watching paint dry is one of my favourite things in the whole world!

  10. Illustrating the island of St Mary's, the largest of the #islesofscilly is taking me as long as I thought it would - there are so many fascinating things to consider.

My profound interest in tea and cakes, birds, horses,#neolithic burial chambers and flowers, appears to be hanging out quite markedly!

And there are more flowers to come. Daffodil field next!

  12. Off to the Isles of Scilly for today's #StandingStoneSunday offering. This double holed standing stone is in the Abbey Gardens on Tresco. (Portrait, needs a click)

Its folklore is that it was a prehistoric handfasting or marriage stone.

    Visited June 2010.
