Ferienrückblick.
Und hier kommen sie, die Vögel, wegen denen die meisten wohl die #IsleOfMay besuchen. #Papageientaucher! Auch sie sind Alkenvögel, wie die Trottellummen und Tordalke von gestern. Auch sie sehen etwas aus wie Pinguine.
Die Kliff-Komiker*innen waren natürlich die Favoriten der Kinder.
Heuer waren sogar besonders viele Brutpaare auf der Insel.

Heute ein paar Alkenvögel (Trottellumme/Guillemot und Tordalk/Razorbill), aber ja, noch nicht der Alkenvogel, auf den ihr alle wartet 😉
Trottellummen brüten übrigens wie Pinguine, mit dem Ei auf den Füssen. Quasi die Nord-Pinguine.
Tordalken mag ich auch sehr, leider hab ich keinen mit offenem Schnabel erwischt. Der ist nämlich innen knallgelb.

Einen Federvieh-Tag haben wir Eltern uns dann gegönnt, aber mit kinderfreundlicher Erfolgsgarantie. Bootsfahrt auf die #IsleOfMay, auf der eine Vielzahl an Vögeln die Vorzüge der Insel, also vor allem die Abwesenheit von Land-Raubtieren, zum Brüten nutzt.
Heringsmöwe mit Jungvögeln, und vermutlich noch ein paar noch etwas jüngere Heringsmöwen, ohne Eltern, dafür in der Nachbarschaft von Papageientauchern.

I'm not usually one for military history but bloody hell this bit of war history is astonishing..It wasn't even a battle. To the east of the #IsleOfMay off the east coast of #Scotland
"On the misty night of 31 January–1 February 1918, five collisions occurred between eight ships. Two K-class submarines were lost and four other submarines and a light cruiser were damaged. 105 British sailors in total died in the accidents."
