  3. Resurrecting another *NEW* portfolio: This is the Isle of Arran, Scotland 👉 iancylkowski.com/scottish-isla

We spent a week here way back in 2017, and a week is not enough. I yearn to be here again, with its imposing mountains, ancient history, gorgeous coast and so much.

  6. The Druid Auchencar standing stone, Isle of Arran Scotland. The stone is red sandstone 5m high and very thin. Unlike Machrie Moor this stone is pointed and rough more like a Callanish stone than an Arran one. This stone has veiws of the mountains and the sea, it would be very visible from out at sea. "A second broken and recumbent stone lies nearby to the south, 27ft long and 5ft 6ins at the base".

  7. The island of Pladda, south of Arran, seen in tranquil evening light from Kildonan, which lies at the south-eastern extremity of the Isle of Arran. Pladda's name comes, for obvious reasons, from the Norse for "Flat Isle". More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/arr

  8. The strikingly located Lochranza Castle, standing on a spit of land projecting out into Loch Ranza near the northern end of the Isle of Arran. The origins of the castle date back to the 1200s, though much of it was built in the 1400s. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/arr

  9. Part of one of the stone circles in the rich prehistoric landscape of Machrie Moor on the west side of the Isle of Arran. One of the most important prehistoric sites in Scotland, people have been leaving their mark here for 6,000 years. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/arr #Scotland

  10. The seafront at Brodick on the Isle of Arran, seen from the Ardrossan ferry. Arran is often described as a "Scotland in miniature" and though it's not the largest village, Brodick is the main focus for visitors to the island. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/arr

  11. More than meets the eye? The very enigmatic Kilpatrick Dun, on high ground south of Blackwaterfoot near the Isle of Arran's west coast. What you see are the remains of a fortified farmstead that was built here some 1,800 years ago. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/arr
