One of the most defining features of #isiZulu is its noun class system. Instead of masculine or feminine genders (like German or French), nouns are grouped by categories (humans, animals, abstract concepts), and each category gets a specific prefix.
But here is a psychological key: that prefix must attach itself to every single word in the sentence that relates to the noun.
Abantu abahle bayahamba. (The beautiful people are walking).
The "aba/ba" weaves through the noun, the adjective, and the verb. You literally cannot construct a sentence without connecting the subject to its environment through sound. The grammar forces harmony. It is the linguistic embodiment of Ubuntu (I am because we are). The individual does not exist in isolation, they share a phonetic breath with everything around them.

@GrahamDowns I personally think it would help #SouthAfrica|n #democracy, #civilsociety and #society in general a lot, if #SocialMedia was not dominated by American media giants and their algorithms with their dubious political and financial interests.*
That is part of the reason why I am personally supporting this project and why we plan to be here for the long run.
It would be wonderful if more and more and also a more diverse crowd of people decide this is a place for them.
Scrolling through the timeline and seeing it full of posts in #isiZulu, #isiXosa, #Sesotho etc would be a dream.
* Of course that is true for all parts of the world, but South Africa is the place I especially care about.
