It's irrational fear.
Just like hitler and the germans feared the Jews.
That irrational fear can pick out any target.
Whether responsible or not is irrelevant.Since already the fear itself is irrational.
It's an abomination so many people have to die for irrational fear.
My best guess at the root of this irrational fear is the same i have for the acting up of America and the rise of the far right in Europe: old men being scared of the world taking control out of their hands after millenias of patriarchy.

A friendly reminder that #advertisers and #marketing experts can create demand by simply signalling to hapless #consumers that a product or service is #scarce.
There's apparently a part of our brain dedicated to #fear of #scarcity. Psychoanalysts often work with govts and #advertisingAgencies to illicit that, often #irrationalFear to illicit a particular response.
