CW: Worries about the Iran War
I am morbidly fascinated with the Iran War. The US is the aggressor. We are the ones who have attacked during negotiations. It's not right, and I oppose it.
We are also losing the war. Despite all our bombs and destruction, the US is not able to defeat Iran. Unfortunately, our leader doesn't seem to believe this. I am worried his willful ignorance in this conflict with cause it to spread across the region and the world.

Oh boy. The #Wikipedia article on the Iran war lists “Iranian victory” as the war’s result on the article infobox. (But this is tagged as disputed and there’s a lively discussion on the article’s talk page.)
I’m sure this will not help with the very dim view of Wikipedia already held by conservative, MAGA, and Israel-allied sections in the United States and Israel. 🇮🇷🇮🇱🇺🇸

These findings are unsurprising but worth spotlighting.
Politicians and journalists still active on X for "engagement" or whatever dubious reason (or, to a lesser degree, active on FB) are soaked in deeply warped notions of public opinion on immigration, inequality, LGBTQ issues, etc. Their Overton window misaligns badly with reality

I am distressed when I think about how my tax dollars are going toward this cruelty and destruction of the current Iran war. So I looked up about tax resistance and found the National War Resistance Coordinating Committee website https://nwtrcc.org/resist/consequences/
Here is a snippet from their page on the consequences of resisting war taxes:

I am noticing a pattern where the US uses military strikes and "wins" only to "need" to return later to fight again. This Iran War is a good example. The Twelve Day War was less than a year ago. After this war is over will we "need" an even bigger war in the next nine months? Will we also "need" to return to Venezuela too?
This is not a new pattern, but it seems much worse under this regime.
It's frustrating. I want lasting peace and security, not just for us Americans but for people all over.

I strongly oppose Trump's new war with Iran. I don't buy that this war was necessary. There are ways to sort out international problems peacefully. Let's try sincerely.
I guess when you have aircraft carriers and cruise missiles it seems easy to solve everything militarily, but I think it is a horrible mistake.
I intend to take action to resist further war. As a first step, I'll ask my congress people to not approve this war and not to fund it either!

This podcast episode about the Iran protests gives good information about the desperate situation there. It's terrible how the regime is using violence against its own people.

Mohammadreza Bahonar, a member of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council.
“At present, there is no mandatory law on the hijab. The general decision of the regime is that such a law no longer exists,” Bahonar stated. According to him, women will no longer face fines or legal penalties for appearing in public without head coverings.

has got to be one of the best signs I've seen around this whole thing. Iran's people of the left will rise up and improve their own conditions, but the US and Israel will not help, especially not by bombing those women.

No matter what you think of Iran, which to be totally fair, is not a great government when it comes to queer or feminist rights, it doesn't make sense to bomb them. Bombing doesn't result in the positive regime change you think it will.
Bombing Tehran won't result in the women on death row being freed. You will likely just kill them, similarly to how you did with your hostages in Gaza.
Also, stop letting Israel and the US bomb their way out of consequences. They can't just commit a genocide in Palestine, and then get away with it because they intend to go into a war of aggression with another country in the region, whom they attacked, unprovoked, multiple times in the past year!
I haven't even had a chance to touch on the fact that they annexed more of Syria! Israel and the US are such horrible colonial states!
