Oh! Right, found a receipt for a #seagate #ironwolf 4TB drive bought for my #NAS in Jan 2020 , ~$150 CDN taxes in. That price was pretty consistent and close according to PC Partpicker up til 90 days ago or so. Its now ~$227-$232 in Canadian rubles.

Ridiculous.

Again! de 1962, secuela directa de la primera aventura del conocido pato junto al loro Yellow Beak, aunque esta viene de Italia, a cargo de los hermanos Abramo y Giampaolo Barosso, con Giovan Battista Carp. Terminamos con Iron Wolf: Fires of the Revolution (1992), la culminación de las aventuras de un noble rebelde espacial que empezara en 1972 Howard Chaykin, ahora en compañía de John Francis More, Mike Mignola, y otros.

Con música de Alestorm, Judas Priest, Joaquín Sabina, y el horrible dúo pirata de Black MaGnUs y Eze el Oriental cantando un tema de Tom Smith.

I've decided to retire my two Western Digital #blackcaviar HDDs that are ten years old and I use for my backups.
I have just ordered two #seagate #ironwolf to replace them.
Even though they are still HDDs I reckon they should be slightly faster and probably safer then the Black Caviars

Komisch, bei meinen letzten beiden Urlauben ging mir jeweils eine Seagate NAS-Platte ein. Verbaut in einem 2er Bay QNAP NAS.

Heißt eigentlich ich sollte nochmal auf Urlaub gehen, um die These zu widerlegen, dass die Platten automatisch kaputt gehen, wenn ich auf Urlaub gehe?

Also wieder mal schauen, was die Garantie Seite für die Reklamantion von Seagate war...

Since my old #HGST 6TB Deskstar #7200 rpm #NAS drives are dying.
I’m going to upgrade them to #Seagate 24TB #IronWolf pro 7200 rpm NAS HDDs. (#CMR , 512MB Cache, 550TB Endurance, 2.5 million hours MTBF)
So excited to see them in a #ZFS #raidz3 (wondering how long would they last 🙄)
Hopefully they will be as good as the HGSTs
I had a great experience with HGST, the drives continued to work for 9+ years with only 2 failing drives in the past year out of 14 drives.

Nice feeling to finally finish something started on Jan 1.1. 😃

One of the disks in my Synology NAS is showing alarming issues in Scrutiny. It's an 8 TB IronWolf, 4 years old. Strangely, DSM found no problems with the same disk during the SMART quick and extended tests, as well as the IronWolf Health Test.

What do you think?

The #Tecware Quad Cube case has been perfect for my #homelab server - besides its cursed, stupid tempered glass side panels. I hate glass side panels as it is, but this one is extra ridiculous since they're secured using only adhesive, and even though I've had to replace the adhesive in the past, today one of the side panels have finally shattered on me literally, giving me cuts and all.

I WISH I could just replace them with Mesh side panels but no such option is available, ugh. I've tried finding a suitable case to replace it though but found absolutely NONE so far. I'm desperate for suggestions, #PC folks.

Like Tecware Quad, it should at least cater:

- mATX motherboard
- ATX PSU
- Several PCIE slots at least for a 1-slot GPU, NIC, and SATA Controller
- ~1-2x 2.5" drives
- 4x 3.5" drives (specifically #Seagate #Ironwolf drives, apparently some cases don't have compatible mounting holes somehow)

^ crazy ain't it how capable the Quad is at a relatively accommodating form factor (super cheap too but price isn't a concern here, I'm desperate). Another thing about the Quad is that besides its dumbass side panels, the quality is amazing and it's SUPER easy to get in and out of which is perfect for a server. Also it caters that amount of PCIE devices and drives perfectly, no hacks or janky workarounds whatsoever required. Please help ;(

Say hypothetically I were to buy a #Seagate #IronWolf Pro 6TB drive for $110 new from a legitimate source. That's $18.16 per TB. Is that a good deal? I've seen stuff about $15 per TB is what you want to go for but since it's a higher-end drive, I wasn't sure.
