So.. My #ironing board kept falling over. Turns out the legs weren't attached because the little thingie that holds them had cracked.This fix spent a whole 10 minutes in my head, 15 minutes in my computer and about an hour after that it was on my ironing board.
I would have had to get a new ironing board! They don't sell spare parts for those 🤯
Having a #3dprinter is great. It's overstrenghtened and underengineered probably. But then again: 10-15-60!

My question yesterday about wool mats has resulted in several good tips - use a clapper, steam or mister bottle - but also some interesting discussions that I probably should have before the purchase, including humidity’s role in pressing, the thickness of the mat, what I want from pressing the seams and whether wool works best for crafts other than quilting

I bought a wool mat big enough to cover my ironing board, but I’m not happy with it. I thought it was supposed to result in crisper seams, but I’m not really seeing that - they are worse than before
Anyone with a similar set up have advice? I’m pressing without steam, cotton setting - is there a trick I don’t know yet?

mit Interdentalbürstchen. Das habe ich mir gerade als passende Methode ausgedacht.
Reinigung der Bügeleisenfläche:
das kalte Bügeleisen auf der rauhen Seite einer flach und faltenfrei ausgelegten Aluminiumfolie mit Druck ausstreichen, quasi die Folie "bügeln". So oft wiederholen, bis der gewünschte Erfolg eintritt. YMMV

Free to a good home: Metal #ironing board with heat reflective cloth cover. Unfolds to 35 inches high. Board is 53 inches long by 14 inches wide. Board has been in use for decades and never given me problems, I just needed a taller one for sewing work.
#Boston area, #northshore specifically. Will happily donate if appropriate charity wants it.

Welp, it looks like my steam iron is now a leaky iron. 💦 I can certainly go on using it with a spray bottle for 'steam', but any recs for a new one? I'm mostly using it for sewing, not for ironing clothing.
Things I want: pointy tip to get into tight corners and around buttons, can be used as a vertical steamer too, auto-shutoff but not too quickly because that's annoying, heats up reasonably quickly, doesn't spit or leak, obvs.
Ideally it'd be under $50 (or even less!); I don't need the fanciest thing out there. I don't care if it has a retractable cord, a lava-infused soleplate, or if it demands distilled water; my tap water is so hard that I'd use distilled anyway.
I just want it to be an iron and make fabric flat.
