I've no strong ideological objection to nuclear, but as far as I know at the moment it doesn't make economic sense when compared with renewables backed up by energy storage (batteries, green hydrogen, pumped hydro etc.) and interconnects. But the absolute legal ban is silly and probably should be removed.

Fact is the Irish government are not doing enough to aid those in crises of recent floods. We are a cournty of high levels of rainfall and there needs to be better systems in place to address these issues. The Taoiseach is just giving excuse after excuse.

There is a cynical pandering by mainstream Irish parties on issues of migration. It’s particularly notable in some of the stances taken by FG.

Rather that combatting disinformation, some have opted for a me too embrace of fear based xenophobic politics.
