#ipres2025 — Public Fediverse posts

Live and recent posts from across the Fediverse tagged #ipres2025, aggregated by home.social.

  1. I posted this idea in reaction to a story told on the #ipres2025 "PANEL 7: Preservation.exe: Working with ICT in Digital Preservation": I'd love to see virtual "build a Greaseweazle" workshop that combines a detailed parts list with synchronous group video call to help everyone building along together. Does this already exist? Anyone else interested?

  2. bonus points to Arkivum's Jack Leitch for leaning into the bake-off theme wearing a chef's hat! Jack is a returning baker from #ipres2024 - and will use the Library of Congress video data from the #ipres2025 pantry to showcase how Arkivum can extract metadata from AV objects.

  3. The OPF team are at #iPRES2025 this week. Each day I’ll be sharing what we’re getting up to.

Earlier today we introduced CLOUDViPER - the online cloud-hosted version of #ViPER, developed in partnership with the #DDHN. Workshop participants explored functionalities and learned how to upload test files: twelve.eventsair.com/QuickEven #digipres

  4. The first workshop day of #iPRES2025 is done — and what a great start to the week 🎉
It’s wonderful to reconnect with the global #digitalpreservation #community here in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand.

As the Tūī (Platinum) Sponsor of iPRES2025, the Digital Preservation Coalition #DPC is proud to support this week of ideas, exchange, and shared learning.
If you’re at iPRES, stop by the DPC table. We’d love a chat! 💚

  5. I'm realizing it's the first time since 2015 that I do not attend #iPRES, neither physically nor remotely.

People, LT as much as you can, please! And see you next year in Copenhagen, hopefully...

  6. I recently added fully recursive extraction of embedded files to Apache Tika's commandline.

This will also extract earlier versions of PDFs available through incremental updates.

This feature is still in beta. Let us know what you think.

    Details in next toot.

  9. Also based on feedback from the community, we are now introducing a special track for practicioners! There've been amazing practitioner demos in the past (special shout-outs to @vickyrampin demo at #ipres2024 and Nick Krabbenhoeft's demo at #ipres2023) but no dedicated submission track.
#ipres2025 is now introducing the "Amuse Bouche" challenge, where you can showcase small,self-contained tools. A winner will be chosen by the audience!
More on this submission track here:

  10. My #dp3 is taking a hiatus as I am on parental leave for a bit. #iPRES2025 prep is still on-going and keynote speakers nomination is open now.
    ipres2025.nz/post/keynote-nomi

Happy to discuss here too. Keynote really sets the tone of the conference. #iPRES2022 keynote by Steven Gonzalez Monserrate introduced me to #solarpunk and offered an optimistic future, alternative to the dystopian and bleak direction we're seemingly heading towards... I often think about this keynote.

  11. #dp3 today were
    1. Co-facilitated a managing born digital collections workshop. Might need to tweak the delivery format to more interactive activities. I feel there's a bit too much one-direction lecture.

    2. Briefly discussed DPX to 4K ProRes request. Tried doing it on Resolve - kept crashing. Might just have to use ffmpeg. This is for tomorrow.

    3. #iPRES2025 prep got moved aside because I was at #NDF25. Need to compile a list of potential paid services for virtual attendee experience.

  12. #dp3 today
    1. Raised ICT resourcing discrepancies. In a resource constrained env, I understand the importance to designate what's core and what's common, but why can't #DigiPres be considered core and common?

    2. Submitted an #iPRES2025 panel proposal on pragmatic digital preservation.

    3. Keep working on spreadsheet diff. Essentially a mini ETL process. Power Query made it all so much less frustrating.

  13. I was looking up #iPRES2024 collaborative notes and noticed many of them are empty. @anj, have you done any analysis on the percentage of notes filled?

Also, should #iPRES2025 have collaborative notes for each session?

  14. Today's done #dp3 are
    1. #iPRES2025 Attendee Experience Committee meeting. We're making progress! (Let me know if you're keen to help)
    2. Planned a brainstorming session for a proposal for a #iPRES2025 panel discussion on #DigiPres challenges and opportunities in the Asia-Pacific and Australasia region, with a focus on pragmatic digital preservation.
    3. Compare two spreadsheets using Excel Power Query. Hoping to build a repeatable workflow.

  15. Vous vous demandez pourquoi aller à #iPRES2025 ? Nos collègues archivistes du SIAF vous font un excellent retour sur #iPRES2024 !!

  16. @archivist_Liz welcome Lukas to the #iPRES community. Any chance we'd see you or Lukas at #iPRES2025 Wellington, NZ?

  17. World Digital Preservation Day also means we'll see #digitalpreservation blogs from the international #digipres community ALL DAY LONG 🎉

Such as this one from Andrea Goethals and Valerie Love about #ipres2025:

Read "Shaping iPRES 2025 Together: Celebrating Community in Aotearoa New Zealand and Beyond" on dpconline.org/blog/wdpd/blog-g

  18. @Thorsted

I’m sorry to have missed another #ipres.

I wish you all an outstanding conference.

    Maybe next year…
