  1. RE: mastodon.design/@yann_t/116561

In Gent at #iPRES2024 we were discussing #BnF 's preservation policy for graphic design, and we briefly touched upon #InDesign / IDML files.

#OutDesign, by @yann_t, is a project that converts IDML files to Docbook, that can in turn be converted to multiple file formats by #pandoc

  6. Am I imagining things, or was there a session during #iPRES2024 where a Flemish(?) group presented on archiving SharePoint sites using a tool format/massage the metadata? Ring any bells? I looked through the proceedings, but nothing was popping out at me. #followerpower #ipres #digipres

  8. bonus points to Arkivum's Jack Leitch for leaning into the bake-off theme wearing a chef's hat! Jack is a returning baker from #ipres2024 - and will use the Library of Congress video data from the #ipres2025 pantry to showcase how Arkivum can extract metadata from AV objects.

  10. Also based on feedback from the community, we are now introducing a special track for practicioners! There've been amazing practitioner demos in the past (special shout-outs to @vickyrampin demo at #ipres2024 and Nick Krabbenhoeft's demo at #ipres2023) but no dedicated submission track.
#ipres2025 is now introducing the "Amuse Bouche" challenge, where you can showcase small,self-contained tools. A winner will be chosen by the audience!

  12. I was looking up #iPRES2024 collaborative notes and noticed many of them are empty. @anj, have you done any analysis on the percentage of notes filled?

Also, should #iPRES2025 have collaborative notes for each session?

  17. *newest addition to the #zenodo #digipres community*

"A Guide to Imaging Obscure Floppy Disk Formats" by @makethecatwise @Thorsted @archivist_Liz and Chris Knowles. While originally created for an #ipres2024 workshop, the guide is "written for people getting started with imaging floppy disks (...), particularly
smaller institutions or those with tight budgetary constraints".

  19. Fitting with the festive time of the year, @anj converted the #ipres2024 program metadata (complete with fulltext and video links) into an amazing poetic ode: dpconline.org/blog/an-unexpect ! As a gift that keeps giving, he also incorporated the data into the collaborative #digipres Publications Index at digipres.org/publications/ipre

  20. A year in file formats 2024

    by @beet_keeper

A great write up from Francesca at TNA about the past year for PRONOM via Georgia and the OPF: digipres.club/@Georgia/1136335.

It’s great to see the continuing work including vital translation of guides into other languages. Francesca includes a couple of shout outs to some pieces I have contributed in my spare time this year; including a collaborative workshop with Francesca, David, and Tyler at iPRES2024.

  25. One of my colleagues wrote a blog on #ipres2024 for #WDPD2024. I was having trouble reaching it yesterday. Maybe there was just too much traffic with all the World Digital Preservation Day excitement. ;) Proud of him for writing -- he is often pretty shy. dpconline.org/blog/wdpd/blog-l

  27. Happy to share two new blog posts on our blog:
The first being a written version of a presentation our team lead Trond Teigen held at #ipres2024

  28. My #DP3 for today:

    1) Read through the findings section of the mental health and wellbeing report before starting on the conclusion section tomorrow

    2) Start putting together my mega content development tracking spreadsheet for the Handbook 3rd edition project

    3) Finish some illustrations for a #digipres game from #iPRES2024

  29. Honestly, check out the whole show. Lots of short interviews on #digitalpreservation recorded at #ipres2024. Really great! And let me also take this opportunity to underscore what I mention in the podcast: I really want to see an ipres in #Brasil! #vamos #digipres open.spotify.com/show/1o1yp1zm

  31. OMG! How cool is this? This is a short interview I gave to Miguel Angel Mardero Arellano for a Brazilian podcast while at #ipres2024. I met Miguel because he attended the social dinner I hosted. This is what I love about conferences like Ipres. Also, I introduce myself in Portuguese before switching to English. So cool! 🇧🇷 #digipres open.spotify.com/episode/79orr

  35. My esteemed colleagues @kurau5u, Rafael Gieschke, Wendy Hagenmaier and I received the Angela Dappert Memorial award 2024 for our iPRES paper "Preserving Users’ Knowledge of Contemporary and Legacy Computer Systems: Automated Analysis of Recorded User Activity" 🏆

We decided to donate the award prize to LI-MA, who are currently in danger of having to close down because of funding cuts:

  38. Out of curiosity: is it worth watching for #DigiPres content on LinkedIn? I haven't so far and while I was connecting with a bunch of people after #iPRES2024 (also not really sure why I do it, since I never used LinkedIn connections for anything), I saw some #DigitalPreservation posts that haven't appeared here. Or maybe not yet...

  40. I just completed the #ipres2024 post-conference survey and maybe I was a tiny bit over-enthusiastic in my feedback because I had too much coffee and because truth be told, iPRES is such a great conference.
