Also based on feedback from the community, we are now introducing a special track for practicioners! There've been amazing practitioner demos in the past (special shout-outs to @vickyrampin demo at #ipres2024 and Nick Krabbenhoeft's demo at #ipres2023) but no dedicated submission track.
#ipres2025 is now introducing the "Amuse Bouche" challenge, where you can showcase small,self-contained tools. A winner will be chosen by the audience!
More on this submission track here:

While looking for my #ipres2023 lanyard yesterday to make sure I’ll be bringing the beer-glass #ipres2024 pin along I found my #ipres2014 badge, complete with a 10 year old time capsule. I’ll have to try out the readability when I’ll get back and am already looking forward to it!

What I really did today: 1) prepped for & attended a working group of stakeholders assembling requirements for a digital preservation system. 2) attended an “all staff” meeting. Represented my area at a trivia game during said meeting. I’m an internal quiz legend. 3) Attended a meeting discussing #recordsmanagement roles in #m366 4) prepare slides on #iPres2023 for a staff meeting tomorrow 5) evaluated two recent trainings I attended 😭 I still need to finish my slides and submit an application

And true to form, already opened one issue on #ApacheTika's JIRA: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TIKA-4164 🤣🤣🤣
This is triggered by a file in the #IPRES2023 #bakeoff file set, part of which I'm shamelessly reusing today.

coming from #ipres2023 with the feeling that "we've got this" and #digipres thinking is deeply embedded into digital workflows across the GLAM, university & research landscape to #idw2023 #RDAplenary21 is quite the reality check.
over the past 2 days i've seen parts of the wheel being reinveted and 2003esque digipres discussions of differences between "long-term avalialility", "long-term archiving", "digital preservation".
why do we all fail to collaborate better over and over again !? -
@JennyMitcham is that the infamous #ipres2023 balloon on its way to Ghent !?
-
@JennyMitcham You did the thing we were supposed to have done at #iPres2023 but didn’t!

Excited to hear @BertrandCaron sharing that BnF is financing MediaInfo to work on characterisation of DVD ISO properly to MPEG-7. At work, we also preserve DVD as ISO, we're not using MPEG-7 yet though, so lots more work to do be done. https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8a2ozg #iPRES2023

#TBT to @Thorsted taking photos with this amaze-balls camera at #ipres2023. So cool! 💾📸

@dsalo @Sie
Here’s a selection of some of the stickers that were avail at #ipres2023 from various places. I have more somewhere if your curious. Also - let me know if you’d like to have any and I can see what I can do -
@nkrabben Nick! Sorry for my late reply - i went offline for a while following #ipres2023 . Typically the bake-off has no winners - or, to phrase it differently - all bakers are winners. Those present in person received an #ipres2023 wooden spoon and some Illinois preserves as a prize. Due to logistical problems it is unfortunately not possible to ship these to the remote presenters :-( I'm very sorry about this!!
Thanks again to you and your colleagues for your great presentation! -
back from #ipres2023 for one day of work before heading off to another week of vacation. i think i really need it 🤣 😜
-
@ashley @VickyRampin how did o go through #ipres2023 without meeting you in person?
Curious to hear what you thought of the conference. -

Should I be surprised at this point that I’m _not_ COVID+? It seems like half the people I spoke to / hung out with / hugged at #iPres2023 have come down with it. Not to mention I came home and learnt two family members living in my household tested positive while I was away and simply didn’t tell me because they didn’t want me to worry (their symptoms are mild).
-
Anyone else from #iPres2023 have COVID? Or did I somehow catch it NOT at the conference?
-
#iPres2023 was refreshing and inspiring, but it’s back to work today, back to the grind. Where half the time - maybe more - I don’t actually feel like I’m doing #digipres at all, but HR, or CRM. But I guess part of the work of integrating learning from a conference into actual work is resolving those surface contradictions.
-
Hey there #iPres2023 folks who were in person in Champaign: how is everyone feeling? I've mostly lost my voice + have a headache and mild cough. I'm still testing COVID-negative so far, but curious if anyone else is feeling poorly. Thanks!
-
It's been a hard post-conference crash after #iPres2023, especially after spending the last two days helping my parents move into a temporary apartment while selling their current home and moving into a ranch. I love my parents, but I am already really looking forward to getting home to my own apartment and my cat

Had an amazing time at #iPres2023 but also super happy to be back home with my beautiful boy 💕

I need to connive a way to get myself to Ghent next year #ipres2023 #ipres2024

Un grand bravo à Marion Ville, qui est montée sur scène à l'occasion de sa première participation à un #iPRES, et qui repart avec un prix pour son article "2013 - 2023: A Review of Ten Years of Email Archiving in France" https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fAn8BoiZ43a_WEpIQIoLgdU1GmksYgGH/view.

really enjoyed the #ipres2023 closing ceremony ... but i have a question for the #ipres STG. really? after all that whirlwind action about "changing things" and "community engagement" there isn't even a future-of-ipres session this year? or did i miss something!? and this is not at all on the #ipres2023 committee .... this was a great conference. i'm a bit peeved that after all the community work the now STG relied on, there isn't even as much as an update on what they've been up to. wtf.

@BertrandCaron Some of my feelings of doom and #VocationalNihilism are tied to #ClimateChange, others to #Capitalism, but mostly I often feel what I do is not useful to many people. This might vary for #glam folks based on the institutions they work for or the work they do for communities in their free time. Personally, I often feel incredibly selfish & that I'm not doing enough, but I try to contribute to some efforts both in the #digipres community & other communities I care about #iPres2023
-
@BertrandCaron I'm not sure if there is already an expression for the opposite of #VocationalAwe, but I feel something like #VocationalNihilism (or please suggest a better phrasing or make me aware of the right term!). For me this is the feeling that I'm good at what I do, but what I do is useless, pointless, irrelevant for people at best, hurtful for people at worst. And this ties back to many of the points Ricky Punzalan brought up yesterday. #iPres2023
-
@BertrandCaron brought up feelings of discomfort and also imposter syndrome at #iPres2023: https://digipres.club/@BertrandCaron/111100084376229151 and https://digipres.club/@BertrandCaron/111101569499214644 (and the responses by several community members). For me, my feelings of imposter syndrome have decreased over the years, and I generally feel pretty comfortable at the conference BUT I do feel something like the opposite of #VocationalAwe. (Vocational Awe was coined and described by Fobazi Ettarh https://fobaziettarh.com/)
-
#ipres2023 Ricky Punzalan asking about what slowing down could mean in our work? How do we balance this with our feeling that there is no time to wait (to preserve obsolete media for example). #nttw #nttw7

And now, if you permit, I'm going to make a 90' pause because France is playing rugby.

this is such a great and fun resource from #artefactual at #ipres2023
i'm thrilled to let you know that the #OPF staff DID guess the description correctly 😂 🤣

@karinbredenberg is ending the #PREMIS workshop as great as she started it: "#DigitalPreservation is tricky, regardless if it's about rights, events or other things" #ipres2023

It’s the morning of day 1 of #ipres2023 and already I’ve enjoyed bumping into familiar faces from #ipres2022. It’s actually making me a bit sad to think how unlikely it is I’ll be funded to attend iPRES three years in a row.

@tallison I think @sharonmcmeekin might have sneaked in the first mention of #OAIS within a couple of minutes of starting the Capacity and Skills workshop today! #ipres2023 (not the diagram though)
