After some searching I found one of my old #iPods. The 3rd gen iPod nano. Could not find my older 4th gen iPod (ClickWheel).

I could load new music from my Mac Studio with MacOS Tahoe directly to the iPod with the #apple music app and then manage the library on #iTunes on #OSX 10.5 Leopard on my 12" #Powerbook G4

With a bad battery and even worse display I loaded up the #iPod with some #PowerMetal and headed out on a sunday walk.

Just saw this on #reddit

The most futuristic #iphoneair has the same USB 2 speeds as the iPod nano that was launched 19 years ago

Depending on your perspective, this cements my view that the #ipodnano was a superb gadget.

Other perspective is surely #apple could have given us USB3 speeds

@caseyliss The iPod nano was an amazing device, indeed. I pulled mine out and listened to it (and photographed it with some of its siblings) not too long ago.

Strap and everything, just like the iPhone Air!

EDIT 2: Alpine failed too. I give up.

EDIT: Arch decided to fail to boot. Trying Alpine instead.

Installing #ArchLinux on an iPod Nano 7th Generation for funsies.

Yes, I may bring this to the Apple Store one day.

Following this my kids wanted their own iPods, and specifically the 7th Gen Nano.

Prices have gone way up again so I was worried I wouldn't find anything decent but somehow found the white one cheap and basically new!

Cases and screen protectors to come before I load up some music and surprise the kids for their upcoming birthdays.

It's Time for Apple to Revive the iPod Nano
If any company can revive the standalone gadget, it's the one that sold us all on it in the first place.

Treasures You Discover When Packing to Move

Buried Treasure? My wife discovered her iPod Nano and iPod touch while packing to move.

http://warnercrocker.com/2024/05/10/treasures-you-discover-when-packing-to-move/

When you’re packing to move you discover all sorts of things when you start rummaging through closets and under beds. Last night, my wife dug up these treasures.

An iPod Nano and an iPod Touch, her first forays into Apple devices. We no longer even have a charger in the house anymore to plug in the iPod Nano. Unless we uncover more treasures. Memories.

You can find more of my writings on a variety of topics on Medium at this link, including in the publications Ellemeno and Rome.

Put together another Genuine Artifact: a mini-version of the Greensleeves Jukebox

The power of hundred of versions of Greensleeves… in the palm of my hand

Mainly I wanted this so I could play the “Music Quiz 2” iPod game in order to hone my knowledge of the ‘sleeves, but it’s also a convenient way to showcase the collection to visitors

Found this cheap at resale. It didn't come with the cable. Being a man of a certain age, I have a milk crate full of old cables. And, well, that came in handy. So, wives. Scoff. Scoff all you want!

#TIL there was an iPod Nano that had a Lightning connector AND bluetooth?!

Until 2017 Apple sold the iPod Nano 7th gen, with a Home Button, Bluetooth 4.0 and a Lightning connector!

The iPod even had a Nike app that featured a pedometer. Although it didn't run iOS it ran something Apple called the nanoOS

This is possibly the most incredible (not for the best reasons) piece of tech I've recently found out about.
