The iPod classic is back. Good timing.
iMazing 3.6 lets you add music to any iPod made before the touch, including: classic, mini and nano.
- Free on macOS and Windows
- No iTunes, no Finder, and no syncing that wipes anything not in your computer’s library
- Apple’s firmware stays in place, so the click wheel and accessories work as before. If you want different firmware, Rockbox is still the way.Probably our oldest feature request. TuneAid, our first product, pulled music off every iPod ever made. Adding music back was the missing half.

@Mastokarl Wie blöd. Bei mir hält’s bisher. Die Dinger schalten zügig ein, kein LED-Flackern, keine Ladeprobleme und auf dem Weg zur Mülltonne neuerdings stabile Bluetooth-Verbindung. Aber ich notiere vorsorglich mal „B&W“ 😃 Schade eigentlich, dass #Sennheiser bei den #TW4 da so patzt. Meine anderen Buds an einem #iPodClassic sind #IE600 – die sind 👍🪐

J'ai renbranché ce vieil iPod Classic acheté à l'époque, sa batterie tient encore la chache, et le petit disque mécanique fonctionne également.
160 Go de musique, même aujourd'hui, c'est pas déconnant !

Found replacement phone batteries that fit into the iPod shell, that claim to be 3000 mAH. These are for an old phone called Casper Via M2, which got released in 2016.
The only caveat is that it although it has a a BMS, it doesn't have a BMS pin exposed on the battery, thanks to Reddit, I know that I had to apply 500k to 1m Ω to BMS to GND pins, so I soldered a 470k+100k Ω resistors in series. It works nicely!
It's just like the last image, but used a JST connector.

It took so long to find the energy to figure it all out, but I finally got the iPod Classic running RockBox reliably with my flac music library. And it's using the adwaita theme to match my laptop lol. I am so happy to be able to use it for listening to my music especially since I kinda broke my HiFiWalker H2 a few months ago.

В #iPodClassic есть заметки.
Официальный мануал Apple пишет, что поддерживается только plain text (и #unicode, конечно, в UTF-16). Однако я вижу, что частично поддерживается rich text со ссылками a href. Осталось понять какие тэги работают… Пока все найденые мануалы безнадёжно дохлыеБыло бы охуенно научить его синхронизироваться с evernote/joplin/etc…

Following this my kids wanted their own iPods, and specifically the 7th Gen Nano.
Prices have gone way up again so I was worried I wouldn't find anything decent but somehow found the white one cheap and basically new!
Cases and screen protectors to come before I load up some music and surprise the kids for their upcoming birthdays.

Anyone having a classic Apple iPod ? I'm trying to revive my old iPod Video 5th gen, but the battery and BMS board is dead.
Due to imports regulations I cannot import a battery, and there are no battery sellers my country, so I'm trying to retrofit one of my lipo batteries. However I'm not sure about the polarity of the flex.
If you have an iPod classic and a battery, I'd appreciate if you could help me identify the polarity from top to bottom.

@forty2 Keep it alive!!! As an #iPodclassic Enthisiast I mourn for every single one that dies.. I even keep one of my Macs on 10.14 to continue to use iTunes. But I might look into rockbox as well. #iPod

This was… unfun. But as I suspected, I just needed to reseat the display cable. Leaving it open for now while I shop for a battery and ponder an SD card mod.
