My mobile provider sent out multiple joyful pre-announcements about the upcoming change to #5G. I don’t need to do anything, the phone might restart, the APN might need to be reconfigured.

Turns out my old #iPhone XR does not support 5G at all. Which rendered my mobile internet unusable. WhatsApp still works, most websites and apps don’t. The speedtest app doesn’t even manage to establish a connection to the server.

Nothing could stop me from my #iPhoneXR, but my provider got me buying a new phone.

My first impressions with the #iPhone16e after upgrading from an #iPhoneXR: It's fine. If you're comparing it to the 16 & 16 Pro models, yes, there is a stark difference & you have every right to blast Apple as to why they didn't put MagSafe in the 16e.

For me, all I really cared about was battery life, can it do normal phone things, and new iOS 18 features I will enjoy that I don't have on my iPhone XR.

Yes, I have a MagSafe charger & it wasn't a dealbreaker that 16e didn't have it. I'm the kind that docks my iPhone at the end of the day & undocks it in the morning.

All in all, I'm satisfied that I have a shiny new iPhone that will provide me with years of new iOS updates.

Another #AppleEvent is behind us, I’m deciding which #iPhone to upgrade to (from an iPhone XR): iPhone 14 or 15.

My #iPhoneXR is compatible with #iOS18 & is a champion at battery life but iOS 18 will be the last dance for this iPhone. I’ll be shocked if it gets iOS 19. I plan to use this phone for music (an iPod of sorts), a camera to further my iPhone photography hobby, & a backup iPhone.

Leaked April 2024 documents, obtained and verified by 404 Media, show Cellebrite could not unlock a large chunk of modern #iPhones
For all locked iPhones able to run 17.4 or newer, the document says "In Research," meaning they cannot necessarily be unlocked with Cellebrite's tools. For previous iterations of #iOS17, stretching from 17.1 to 17.3.1, Cellebrite says it does support the #iPhoneXR and #iPhone11.
