    Szef Qualcomma oficjalnie przyznał, że wpływy ze sprzedaży komponentów dla giganta z Cupertino drastycznie spadają. Dla użytkowników oznacza to jedno – autorski modem 5G od Apple wyszedł z fazy eksperymentów i najprawdopodobniej stanie się sercem flagowej serii iPhone 18.

    Autorski chip C2 zmieni zasady gry

    Firma Tima Cooka od dłuższego czasu testuje swoje autorskie rozwiązania w tańszych urządzeniach. Własne modemy napędzają już modele iPhone 16e, 17e oraz nową linię iPhone Air. Prawdziwa rewolucja nastąpi jednak, gdy technologia ta trafi do najmocniejszych wariantów.

    Przecieki branżowe wskazują, że Apple intensywnie rozwija układ o nazwie kodowej C2. Zrzucenie balastu w postaci zewnętrznych modemów Qualcomma to dla Apple Święty Graal optymalizacji.     Apple C2: nowy modem 5G ma trafić do całej serii iPhone 18 i wreszcie obsłużyć mmWave

    Qualcomm w panice podnosi ceny

    Osiągnięcie niezależności przez Apple wywołało nerwowe ruchy u dotychczasowego partnera. CEO Qualcomma, Cristiano Amon, próbuje ratować sytuację, tłumacząc gwałtowny spadek zamówień „ograniczeniami w łańcuchu dostaw”. Twarde dane są jednak nieubłagane.     Umowa patentowa między Apple a Qualcommem wygasa w marcu 2027 roku i wszystko wskazuje na to, że nie zostanie przedłużona. To doskonała wiadomość dla rynku. Przejście na w pełni autorski ekosystem – w którym procesor i modem stanowią spójną całość od jednego projektanta – to ostateczne domknięcie koncepcji Apple Silicon. Koniec płacenia gigantycznych haraczy licencyjnych Qualcommowi może też oznaczać zahamowanie wzrostu cen samych smartfonów w nadchodzących latach. Oczywiście o ile uspokoją się ceny np. pamięci, albo rynek zrekompensuje produkcją apetyt centrów danych dla AI.
