If I'm understanding the default settings, all your "spotlight searches" (formerly launching applications) are shared with Apple for feedback and tracking. Now Apple can track when and what application you open. #Apple #ios26_2

I have a few "canary" devices that I upgraded to iPadOS 26 pretty early, and it was bad. Very bad. Not just Liquid Glass, but these older, slower devices got even more so.

The three in question are an iPad 8th gen, iPad Air 3, and iPad Pro 2018. All still supported and working OK with iOS previously.

Over time as I upgraded them I felt them get even slower and less usable. Oh well, I thought, these are all older devices nearly at the end of their support window.

However, after upgrading to iPadOS 26.2 I seem to have noticed all three being snappier. The responsiveness and usability are back to iOS 18 levels in all three cases. It's taken them months to figure this out, but now it may just be a factor of dealing with UX wonk and not serious performance degradation.
