Four #teenagers, targeted Heakin because of his #sexualorientation, were #arrested and faced first degree #murdercharges.

During their #trial, however, the #judge controversially #reduced the #charges against them to #involuntarymanslaughter, and once #convicted, the #teens received #probation.

According to a local pastor, there were a number of murders in Tucson around that same time that the police largely ignored.
