  1. Last day of #InverteFest game and I'm cooked, so I'm calling it early. Not much different than yesterday, but did fix some stuff.

Recap: Tiny game where you play fetch with a dragonfly, runs in the browser, desktop and mobile, made in 7 days, by me, in Godot.

  2. For the final day of #Invertefest I’m sharing my monarch butterfly on black-eyed susans and echinacea #linocut. Native plants and pollinators I see in my garden.

  3. My final #InverteFest for this round is the fossil trilobites (Eldredgeops rana) and horn coral that @[email protected] gave me. They are Devonian (~380 million years ago) from upstate NY 🧪

Look at the schizochroal eye facets (unique to phacopid trilobites)! www.trilobites.info/eyes.htm

  4. Day 6 of #InverteFest game includes more bug fixes (I might be the only one who noticed these ones), a nicer environment, and a flying animation! The dragonfly movement is also better, although still room for improvement. Starting to resemble an actual game!

  5. More experiments with cyanotype & linocut insects for #invertefest! This one of a kind #cyanotype on water colour paper 11” x 14” has an image of the moon, cedar leaves, black eyed susans, & goldenrod embellished with my #linocut prints of pollinators. The insects are a yellow eastern swallowtail butterfly, a virgin tiger moth, an imperial moth, luna moth & white underwing. These are all native moths and butterflies in eastern North America. minouette.etsy.com/listing/456

  6. My Hoptilomeryx Skull with BlowFlies and Clown beetles is the #InverteFest Art Book! Little collage with some better pics than I've posted previously! Also a lot of stellar art featuring invertebrates.

  7. What about #InverteFest where it becomes worm?

Classic earthworm (Lumbricidae - as I've learned from @[email protected] you can't tell species without microscopy). Then a family known as potworms (Enchytraeidae) - obviously not this one, but some live on glacial ice

  8. Day 5 of #InverteFest game and I've fixed some of the glitchy behaviors (a couple of you noticed them, haha). You can also now use the space-bar to throw the ball.

Spent a chunk of time playing with Terrain plugins, so hopefully a better environment tomorrow!

  9. Yesterday before things went sideways I saw some very small monarchs on plants I plan to give to a friend for a new garden.

  10. #InverteFest crustaceans (cf. Oniscus asellus) closer to home. Opening up fallen logs is a very good way to find them

  11. Day 4 of #InverteFest game and it, very roughly, works! You can throw the ball and the dragonfly will chase it and bring it back! It's sometimes glitchy and needs a lot more polish (animations! stuff in the environment! audio!), but it's progress!

  12. IndiaSky frennns, do you have some art/photographs of invertebrates that you'd like to see as part of this amazing artbook?

    Send something out today!

  13. Day 3 of #InverteFest game and there's finally an invertebrate! It still needs legs and doesn't do anything yet, but uh, it's there?

Hopefully will be able to finish up some other stuff tonight so I'll have more time to work on this tomorrow.

  14. A soft coral from Lembeh (an octocoral of some kind, I think, but no idea what species)

  15. For #Invertefest I am sharing my bumblebee and Sakura blossoms. This linocut on pink washi with an embossed blossom pattern shows my bumblebee (Bombus impatiens) amongst the cherry blossoms.

  16. How do you have a #MarineLife #InverteFest post without visiting the ocean?

Fossils obviously! I was recently at Niagara Falls, which was a marine reef ~440 million years ago. Crinoids are still alive today, but they couldn’t be found here!

  17. Day 2 of #InverteFest game, doesn't look much different, but you can throw the ball now! Click or touch and drag. Still no inverts, tomorrow tho!

Everything is taking longer than I expect, because I'm not used to how Godot does things. The struggle is real. 😭

  18. This red-spotted purple puddling on my garden path did an obliging little twirl for me earlier. 🦋🧑‍🩰

  19. Was hoping to get a little farther on my #InverteFest game, but had some other stuff to do.

Basic scene created, tracks mouse location (you can click and the ball jumps to that place), no inverts yet.

Super boring, but if you want to see it here's a link:

  20. It's #Invertefest, and I haven't 🦀-posted for a bit, so... here's a decorator crab, trying very hard to look like the weed that it has stuck to its face. I *think* its a Halimeda Crab (Huenia heraldica) but I could be entirely wrong about that.

  21. Last week of August is #Invertefest so it’s time to celebrate some invertebrates! My #cyanotype of lily of the valley flowers is embellished with my linocut moths: a hummingbird clearwing moth, Virgin tiger moth and a White underwing moth. These three moths are native here in Ontario.

  22. Starting off this #InverteFest with 3 Opiliones sightings! I think all 3 are Leiobunum spp with #2 being L. vittatum.

#1 though is being parasitized by mites (red dots)! Just casually sucking the haemolymph near the base of the legs 🕷
