  5. @camelliakyoto It makes so much sense now, why, in InuYasha, Kagome traveled through the well. I hadn't even realized there was a cultural context, just accepted it as a plot device.

  6. While Vampire Hunter D, The Dark Tower, and Dreamcatcher were probably the most influential books when it comes to my own work, other mediums of story telling have definitely seasoned my storytelling. I love the cosmic horror underpinnings of the game Bloodborne, the thoughtful and emotional storytelling of the anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and I can’t get enough of horror movies with dark foreboding or ambiguous conclusions. I’m also a huge fan of Inuyasha and the world that unfolds within the anime/manga, from the struggles and growth of characters, to the ebb and flow of the storyline itself.

  7. Now what's the main theme of the movie? I'm no analyst myself but I'd say it's about the uplifting power of music and fighting negative emotions, but also acceptance, the journey the main character goes through remains me of #Inuyasha, albeit in a more simplified way, can't compete with volumes and volumes of #manga!

I watched this with my girlfriend, it's a very fun movie, not only for K-Pop fans.

  8. 📰 Exploring Sesshomaru's Family Bonds: His Thoughts on His Wife and Daughters

  9. The Roku Channel is the only FAST/AVOD service that has English dubbed anime from #VizMedia, like #Naruto, #DeathNote, #InuYasha, #HunterXHunter, and others, so those series potentially being available on a free streaming channel in English is a pretty big deal.

  10. Also, I super like the background world aesthetics of #inuyasha with its fantasy (but historically grounded) Sengoku Jidai. I like the cute villages with the houses that have rocks to hold the roofs down, the neat little disused shrines everywhere, and the strange foreboding forests and mountains.

Its a nice contrast to the horror and carnage of the rampaging demons and the (mostly off screen) civil wars lurking in the backstory.

  11. I do like the fight scenes in #inuyasha, they manage to keep it fresh over and over by adding new elements or changing up the situation; I attribute this to Rumiko Takahashi's careful fight planning in the original manga (which I haven't read).

I also like how the fights are easy to follow and often give each of the characters something to do. Also, Inuyasha does not do the thing *some* shounen anime do where they have a battle that lasts 15 episodes and makes the audience bored.

  12. Going through the #inuyasha anime, I think I like the episodic one-shot adventures and surprise sitcom episodes slightly better than the to-be-continued shounen battle episode arcs, maybe because they're more bottled and sometimes reveal interesting lore and more character development (and are just more goofy).

  13. #inuyasha hot take: I like the S1 Orchestral opening theme (Likeness of a Gale / 疾風の如く) used in the US better than the original "Change the World" opening.
