PsyPost: A 20-minute game of Tetris reduced traumatic memories in pandemic frontline workers. “A recent study found that an imagery-competing task intervention reduced the frequency of intrusive memories in healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The intervention involved recalling an intrusive memory and then playing Tetris for 20 minutes. The study was published in BMC Medicine.”

    I'm Thomas, #postdoc in #ClinicalPsychology & #Psychotherapy and #CBT therapist in training @UniMünster.

    Fav. research topics: #PTSD, #IntrusiveMemories, and temporal-spatial context memory.
    #ExperimentalPsychoPathology methods, such as #traumafilm, #EMA, and #VR.

    More recently, I've also been interested in frame-of-reference theories, e.g. what comparisons we use to judge our own #wellbeing, #abilities, or adjustment to stress & trauma.
