CW: AI, disappointment
Disappointed after having read an article from Information Today titled "To AI or not to AI: Do information professionals really have a choice?"
The subtitle blurb reads "Opinions about the use of AI by librarians, knowledge managers, researchers, and other information professionals differ widely, revealing philosophical, practical and ethical divide. What are we to do?" This led me to believe that the author would actually make a suggestion regarding how we might skillfully act in the face of this quandary. Instead, there are brief descriptions of what some organizations are doing closing with the capitulative refrain that total avoidance of AI is unavoidable and a vague hope that things will get better.
