this is hitting me similar to the Archie reboot.

y’all know my obsession with #interwar #fashion. been studying Elsa Schiaparelli, the designers’ designer of that period.

Schiaparelli, like Chanel, didn't have the money of a Worth or Poiret. they were famous for locking down fabrics they could afford and developing bespoke #sewing techniques around them.

Schiaparelli was an expert haberdasher, tailor & seamstress. this looks cheaply made, not Schiaparelli made.

that era didn't separate paintings from drawings. a lot of those magazine covers are full scale paintings, unfortunately, lost to people treating them as ephemera.
