  1. CW: eye contact

Wrapping up my week of #InternationalClownWeek photo posts, here's one of my clown partner Foley and I wandering around an art gallery.

  2. CW: eye contact from clown on out-of-control bicycle

Today's #InternationalClownWeek photo is a simple reminder to always ride your miniature penny farthing bike past photographers at festivals.

  3. Another silly clown character picture from our photo archives to celebrate #InternationalClownWeek

This is Cecil St. Barbara, who I created to host a Shakespeare-themed variety show. He spent the evening sipping "wine" out of a glass skull until he hallucinated faeries, mocking the over-importance of Shakespeare, and generally proving I am a close runner up to Dick Van Dyke for worst Brit-ish accent in a character performance.

  4. I'm grumpy because I missed the first day of posting images for #InternationalClownWeek!

Here's a photo of my clown in a mood, to begin the belated celebration.

  5. The photo I've selected for the final day of #InternationalClownWeek is likely the most difficult one for me to share.

This was taken at a festival, just before the pandemic was declared, and the life we knew was absolutely blown apart.

We shut everything down and hid in our little #clown bunker. Despite this, a couple of years later I caught covid and ended up in the hospital.

That was two years ago today.

    I'm still battling #LongCovid.

And I still hope to see those clowns again.

Special thanks to @Tom and @Buttonseed_Nikki for this episode's image.

  7. It's day six of #InternationalClownWeek, and I'm pulling random images from our performing company's archive to share and celebrate.

In the episode of the #2ClownsInACloset #podcast I'm currently editing, I tell a story about working with an incredible juggler called Alan.

Here he is on my left as we do a bit of street performing.

  8. Up early today, and editing a new episode of the #2ClownsInACloset #podcast for you to enjoy!

I hope to have it ready to go before the end of #InternationalClownWeek

In the meantime you can listen to previous episodes of our silly conversations here:

  9. Day five of #InternationalClownWeek, and I'm still digging around in our archives for fun images to share.

Here's another one from Salmagundi, circa 2015.

During our Halloween theme show, the #clown found a terrific improvised moment while delivering hula hoops to the stage.

  10. The collision of day four of #InternationalClownWeek and the ending of round one of the #CluckMe crocheted chicken name-off was unplanned, however our performing company's photo archives did provide the perfect image.

This was from early in the run of Salmagundi, a monthly dinner theater show we performed in an old historic theater. A new show every month means we were working constantly, and it's during that blur that I really learned how to bolt together a show.

  11. Happy day three of International Clown Week!

I've been drowning in nostalgia this year, as I dig around in our performing troupe's archives for images to share each day.

Today's features Jane, who's a topic on the episode of the #2ClownsInACloset #podcast I've been editing with @SocialGaff

This is one of her preferred methods of backstage travel.

  12. It's day two of International Clown Week!

I'm pulling fun photos from our performing company's archive all week to celebrate.

This is Foley, in her hot air balloon. I helped build this giant prop/costume around 2015.

What you can't see in the cropped image is that the performer is on three foot dancing stilts. With a pair of dark pants below the basket, the illusion on stage was spectacular and silly.

  13. CW: eye contact, ridiculous expression

    Happy International Clown Week!

I'll be posting a photo from our archives each day to celebrate. :)

Today's offering was from a juggling event in 2013 called "SpinFest". My friend brought a camera with a ridiculously long lens, and my partner and I carefully juggled on either side of it.

  14. Happy #InternationalClownWeek Day 7 - Annie Fratellini (1932-97), 4th generation Algerian of the Italian Fratellini clown dynasty. At 18 she ran AWAY from the circus to become a singer/actress. In 1975 she founded Europe's 2nd professional clown school, École Nationale du Cirque

  15. Happy #InternationalClownWeek Day 6 - Oleg Popov (1930-2016) most famous in Soviet Russia was a mime, tightrope walker, animal trainer, acrobat & juggler. Popov's "sunshine clown" character was based on the fool Ivanushka, a gentle little man baffled by the big, precarious world

  16. Happy #InternationalClownWeek Day 5 - The sad hobo Weary Willie, played by Emmett Kelly (1898-1979). Kelly originally studied to become a cartoonist and taught himself to be a trapeze artist. In 1944 he rescued children from a burning tent during the Hartford Circus Fire.

  17. Happy #InternationalClownWeek Day 4 - Herschel Shmoikel Pinchas Yerucham Krustofsky, aka Krusty the Clown, star of hit game "Krusty's Fun House" (1992). A live action Krusty spin-off was canceled because trained beavers and animatronic ones were too expensive. Really!
