Today on International Archives Day, we recognize how institutions like the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) safeguard the nation’s documentary history, ensuring accountability, preserving memory, and maintaining access to records across generations.

Just as the NARA preserves a nation’s record, the Wayback Machine preserves the history of its web presence. 🕰️ 💾

The oldest document in our archives is this collection of speeches made by Jean Monnet at the inauguration of the High Authority and at the opening session of the Assembly, both in 1952.

On the #InternationalArchivesDay today, we're reflecting on why documenting our stories matters, not only for preserving the past, but for shaping the future. Haneen Maikey shares how Queer Palestinian memory-making is a practice of resistance, collective care, and community-building by drawing experience of creating Palestinian Queer Movement Archive, alQaws.

What? It's #InternationalArchivesDay? Not bragging, but from the archives across PACSCL came #BibioPhilly (bibliophilly.pacscl.org), and #ChroniclingResistance (chroniclingresistance.org), and #FortheHealthoftheNewNation (archive.org/details/fhnn), and In Her Own Right (inherownright.org/), and (www.philageohistory.org/geohistory/ - oldie, but a goodie), and Covid-19 in Philadelphia (archive-it.org/home/PACSCL).

But perhaps more importantly, check out our catalogue! So much work has gone into this by so, so many of my colleagues. I'm so happy to see this launched: https://archives-catalogue.iaea.org/ #InternationalArchivesDay

Big news for #InternationalArchivesDay: our archival catalogue has officially launched. And our colleagues in the Multimedia Team even made a short video to promote it. Check out the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=et-HCafVMCc

Are we stuck in a time loop?

This #InternationalArchivesDay, we revisit a haunting headline from 1987: a crisis-ridden Lebanon where most cannot afford basic necessities like food or medicine.

34 years later, the struggle feels eerily familiar.
