  1. Presentation "Foreigners and Japanese Adapting to Each Other" at Kansai University in Osaka on adapting to life in Japan, described more fully at permalink hcommons.social/@SteveMcCarty/

The presentation recommended being a professional foreigner as a middle way between alienation and assimilation, or between remaining an outsider and going native.

Check out the slideshow, with actual untouched photos as backgrounds, at researchgate.net/publication/3

A bilingual slide has a message to Japanese people about adapting to the foreigners in their midst. Show it to any Japanese people you know who are hesitant about intercultural communication:

  2. Our friend Tim Hall of religionmatters.org/ just shared an exciting new preprint on religious literacy as part of global education:

"Amplifying Religious Literacy Education through the Frameworks of Global Competence".

This is a great read and a great resource for anyone who cares about global education and global cultural competence.
