I'm looking for anything on British Vulgar Latin, anything at all. I mean, what on earth were the bulk of people speaking in post-Roman Britain before English? It sure wasn't pre-Roman Pritannic/Brythonic/etc, not with Rome sticking around for the better part of 400 years. There are a bunch of Latinisms in Old Welsh and Cornish, and there are absolutely Celtic elements to British Latin inscriptions-- but have any studies been done? #lingualatina #brythonic #celtic #welsh #cornish #insularlatin
