Und hat hier jemand Erfahrung mit #Insular oder anderen #sandbox Anwendungen? Ich frage mich, ob es sinnvoll wäre, um so Apps wie Facebook (dafür nutze ich allerdings schon n Wrapper) oder Pinterest auf dem Handy meiner Tochter darein zu verbannen? Bzw macht es Sinn, vllt einfach alle Google Apps und System Apps von - in meinem Fall - Samsung darein zu verschieben? Viele von denen kann ich ja nicht vollständig entfernen...

He eliminado mis cuentas de un montón de lugares: #facebook, #twitter / #x, todavía no termino de irme de #google para ya hay otros servicios que estoy utilizando.

Ahora con #instagram tengo el dilema que sigo a gente muy copada, muy buena que trata de usarla como herramienta de difusión y demás, una contra frente al uso nefasto de las red social.

Saliendo del debate de si es en vano o no que hagan eso, de si es óptimo o no, lo cierto es que sí me interesa seguir a esas personas y la solución que he encontrado es usar Instagram desde el navegador con todos los blockers que conozco y demás. Pero ahora estaba considerando la alternativa de #insular y ese segundo espacio que dice aislar a las «redes del gran hermano».

¿Qué opinan? ¿Alguien usa #insular o algo similar? ¿Serviría para mantener a raya, aunque sea un poco, a la app de Instagram o me sigo quedando con el navegador reforzado en muchos blockers y demás? Sé que no hay soluciones infalibles más allá de cerrar cuenta y abandonar la red pero al menos por ahora me gustaría saber qué creen al respecto.

This is an #INSULAR manuscript, which means it was written in Germany but has associations with the British Isles. So the flourish on the final s may actually come from a similar Northumbrian practice. See for example the Salaberga Psalter, in which many final letters have beautiful formal flourishes. This is one of the many questions our project will be investigating! #palaeography

Fìgheadh

Pronounced “fee-yugh’, the name is a Scottish Gaelic noun meaning ‘weaving’.

This is an OpenType version, because Adobe don’t support Type1 any more. If you have the old TrueType version, it should still work. This version contains a couple of bugfixes. As I’m working on a new version, uppercase ASD and FGH are a preview of that.

What’s in the archive?

This archive contains the OTF version of the font, which can be used on Classic MacOS, MacOS X, Linux and Windows. It includes the following files:

• About Figheadh OTF.pdf – this file.

• Figheadh-Regular.otf – the font file In MacOS X, double click on these to see a preview. Click on the “Install Font” button to install. For earlier versions of Mac OS, these files should go in the ‘Fonts’ folder in the System Folder.

Bugs and other inconvenient features.

I am in Scotland. This typeface was set up using a British keyboard.  Shift-3 gives me £. On US keyboards, you have to type option-3 to get this character, although I’ve been informed that shift-3 still gives the correct character. There are probably other differences—use the table to check.

Please let me know if you get this, or any similar, problem.

The display bug which caused an unwanted line to appear in the white-on-black characters has now been fixed. Honest.

A joyous Lá Fhéile Pádraig to all our neighbours in Medinat Ireland and around the world! This festival, also known as Pátrikablót, celebrates the life of the holy pest-eradicator Pádraig / Pátrik, and Irish culture in general.

This is a good time to remember that much of what we think of as #Insular Celtic paganism, from celebrating Imbolc and Lughnasadh to the Ogham script to reverence for bards and storytellers, has its roots in the rich Irish culture. Blessed be, Pátrik! 🍀

I noticed the difference most dramatically when I actually explored the #Fediverse a bit, seeing not just the instance I chose, but the nature and tenor of wider interactions. #Mastodon and the Fediverse in general are like what's good about both #Twitter and #Facebook, without the negatives of either. Facebook can be #insular, and Twitter can be #vicious. I see little of either here.
