So the second day of school in #1998 began with an about face, trudging back down the hill, across the street to the bus stop, and going home to figure out what to do with this unexpected #snow day.
(Reader, it was Jackie Brown in the theater, in an increasingly #deserted downtown.)
And there was a little bit of #adventure in the air, suited up to mount the snow banks and the Metro there and back. But it was as the afternoon wore on that the #survival #instincts kicked in.

However, we have now scaled up those primitive, aggressive animal instincts by feeding them into global, hyper-efficient macro systems—like AI targeting algorithms and automated drone warfare. What used to be a basic survival instinct is now a global kill-chain. If we don't break free from these macro systems, our own evolutionary baggage will destroy us. -

4. The Macro Systems and the "Animal Part" of Us"The humans among us must free ourselves from certain of the macro systems which seem to have emerged from the animal part of who we are. What once made us strong can now make us weak."
As animals, humans have primal instincts for survival, tribalism, and dominance over resources or enemies. Historically, those ruthless, aggressive traits helped our species survive and become "strong."

@QudsNen I'd like to ban Keir #Starmer & the #LabourParty (so-called), but I think I can be persuaded to refrain from doing so. The former #HumanRights #lawyer must really try, at least, to overcome his #authoritarian #instincts.

Learn to trust your #instincts. Only something dead goes with the tide. Only something living can go against it.

Just as a tortoise in danger [instinctively] draws in its limbs, the wise too can draw in their senses at will.

Is #editing just checking #grammar & #spelling? No, it's much more: "[G]ood editors are #technically proficient. ... However, truly excellent editors also follow their #instincts. ... Editing, then, is not just an intellectual exercise but an emotional one too." https://tinyurl.com/y8f3eup3 #AmEditing

"Rules are meant to be broken" is obviously a cliché, and as such obfuscates any of its important underpinnings. Because what it's trying to say, I think, is that one cannot rely solely on rules - in any activity. Importantly, it stresses the value of skills such as #evaluation, #judgment, and even #instincts and #emotions.
One of the many failures of educational systems is to not recognize the worth of these skills (not least in terms of #democracy), and thus not promoting their development.

I was a wannabe DJ long enough now! It is time to upgrade my game!
First things first: Upgrade from super noob controller to beginner controller :)

#3GoodThings #ReasonsToBeCheerful
1. Woke up instinctively before the "kids" got up to leave for Mexico.
2. The dogs got along quite well.
3. Had a great conversation with my Mom and BFF for life.
BONUS: I enjoy being "alone", just me and my dog.

#INSTINCTS #SENSES & #CONSCIOUSNESS
If you suddenly woke up w/out any traces of cognitive memory; About your ID, language, background.... You'd be filled with confusion.
Your instincts would still work. Your inherent senses would make you aware of basic needs (like drink, food, shelter...) to maintain the demands of your Vital Functions.
Your awareness would be based on inherent senses & instincts combined (delivered by the mixture of your genes), forming your core #HierarchyOfNeeds? 🤔

A moment of musing.
Read this, made me think of toad.social community, lightened up my heart.
