Two-thirds of that group worked full-time jobs, clocking in 35 or more hours each week. Most of these employed recipients of federal benefits worked in some of the lowest-paying jobs in the country, but an estimated 35% of them were employed at companies with more than 1,000 workers.
As The Washington Post reported in its analysis of the GAO data, the top employers of these federal beneficiaries are some of the nation’s biggest and most well-known companies. “The number of Amazon workers relying on the federal programs for the poor nearly tripled between February 2020 and September 2025,” the Post noted, to around 12,346 workers who needed SNAP assistance and 11,338 who had to rely on Medicaid. “And for the first time, ride-hailing and app-based food delivery companies — Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Grubhub and Instacart — collectively ranked among the top three employers with workers receiving aid.” Rounding out the group: Walmart, the nation’s largest private employer, as well as Dollar General and McDonald’s.

I have been ordering from Walmart, Amazon, Instacart, DoorDash, and Grubhub since the 2020 pandemic, and it is now 2026. I had never experienced a fake BOT delivery scam until today.
I ordered from Walmart and watched the so-called "driver" do things a normal person never would.
For example, they supposedly missed my street 4x times, drove past my house 2x, and claimed they were here when no one was anywhere on my side street or the cross street.

As far as I know, Walmart uses Instacart, so naturally, an order without a tip is being avoided as if it were the plague. I dislike our tipping culture because Instacart should pay people enough, as should Walmart, and the driver — who is paying nearly six dollars a gallon for gas — is likely struggling as much as everyone else, myself included, which we should all blame on Donald Trump.
But that struggle is why tipping can hurt some people so much, and not receiving a tip can hurt as well. It is a vicious cycle that we should not be facing, and yet here we are.

Here we go again. Question for my #Blind friends who have the #Instacart app for #iOS. I'm running version 9.3.0 48123. This morning if I go under account, settings, notification, the option to get order updates has now changed. It seems that one can no longer get both push and text. It says push notifications, if push is turned off or fails to deliver we'll send you sms updates so you don't miss anything. Are others seeing this also? As of this past Monday it was still possible to get both push and text.

Zamiast polegać wyłącznie na kamerach, które mogą pomylić jogurt ze śmietaną, ich nowa lodówka po prostu… zeskanuje kod kreskowy opakowania.

Model GE Profile Smart 4-Door French-Door Refrigerator (nazwa długa, ale precyzyjna) wyróżnia się funkcją, której konkurencja dotąd nie wdrożyła na taką skalę. W obudowę dystrybutora wody i lodu wbudowano czytnik kodów kreskowych. Idea jest prosta: kończy ci się mleko? Zanim wyrzucisz karton do kosza, przesuwasz go przed czytnikiem.
System rozpoznaje ponad 4 miliony produktów. Po zeskanowaniu, towar automatycznie ląduje na liście zakupów w aplikacji SmartHQ. Co więcej, GE zintegrowało to rozwiązanie z Instacart, więc lodówka może de facto sama „zamówić” brakujące produkty. Dla towarów bez kodów (jak warzywa z targu) przewidziano obsługę głosową lub ręczne wpisywanie na ekranie. To rozwiązanie wydaje się znacznie mniej podatne na błędy niż algorytmy rozpoznawania obrazu, które wciąż miewają problemy z odróżnieniem rodzajów wędlin.
FridgeFocus, czyli kamery też są
GE nie rezygnuje jednak całkowicie z podglądu. System FridgeFocus wykorzystuje kamery wbudowane w listwy LED, aby robić zdjęcia zawartości szuflad i półek. Pozwala to na zdalne sprawdzenie w sklepie, czy faktycznie nie mamy już sałaty, co ma zapobiegać marnowaniu żywności.
Centrum dowodzenia, ale mniejsze
W przeciwieństwie do Samsunga, który montuje w drzwiach gigantyczne ekrany, GE postawiło na skromniejszy, 8-calowy panel dotykowy. Służy on jako hub kuchenny – wyświetla pogodę, przepisy (dzięki partnerstwu z Taste of Home) i pozwala zarządzać listami.
Czy zobaczymy to w Polsce?
Lodówka trafi do sprzedaży w USA w kwietniu 2026 roku w cenie 4899 dolarów. I choć marka GE Profile nie jest obecna w Polsce, właścicielem GE Appliances jest chiński gigant Haier, który nad Wisłą radzi sobie świetnie.
Niewykluczone więc, że jeśli technologia skanera przyjmie się za oceanem, Haier zdecyduje się na implementację tego rozwiązania w swoich europejskich modelach.
