I wasn't having much luck with my Stanley #4 when flattening this table top. Out of desperation, I grabbed one of my Japanese planes. I've never had much luck with it in the past even though I tried it several times.
Man, that thing ate through the top and flattened it in no time. I hit it with the Stanley for good measure when I was done.

First Lego table leaf is built and attached. Mistakes were made (and corrected). It looks ok. The gap (1/4") is a little more than I wanted, but I'll know how to fix that going forward (measure better and build over sized). I am happy that it stands up with just one leaf attached. I was concerned that not having the counter balance of the other leaf would cause it to tip.

I don't entirely understand, but when I went to flatten the other side of my table leaf... it was a lot flatter. I would expect them to be mirror inverses of each other. 🤷♂️
Final thickness is between 5/8" and 3/4" which for my purposes is more than adequate. It also means I don't need any hackery to use my 1/2" screws.

One side of the first leaf is now flat. My technique of using dowels to stabilize vertical movement didn't work as well with pine as it does with oak. Had to take a lot more material off than I expected...and I haven't even touched the other side. If it gets too thin, I may have an issue with my screws being too long. I bought 1/2" screws for a 3/4" board. I may have to find shorter screws or add some plywood backing to the bottom to get that 1/4" back.

Les trucs en cours qui n’avancent pas (ou à peine).
Il faudrait aussi que j’essaye de dessiner dans un même style et que je sois plus carré et cohérent dans l’apparence des personnages, car c’est ici le même personnage dont je change le visage, la coiffure, ou les formes au gré de mes envies et humeurs (sans parler du fait que je ne suis pas physionomiste, alors avec un personnage fictif… 😅).
