my issue with his involvement is rather this:
- giving legetimacy to companies that [and then any reffer to what I posted]
- working towards ideas of authoritarian control, that those companies wish to implement

I just have a strong problem seeing that #Mastodon official collaborates with such.

The mentioned companies are lesser known, but to grasp what my problem is, I make the following comparison:

"Mastodon is working together with facebook, the NSA, google, the GCGQ, frontex....to build a rating system on people and content."

That sounds like an outright problem, same it is for me with #INOV, #SYNYO, #trilateralresearch
Those companies develope tools to basicly kill migrants, to just name an example.

That's not a minor thing to do. That is full blown contributing to facism.
The starting words of a project description from a project that INOV works on:

"Combating irregular migration...",

And that's just an example. This list goes on and on with very similiar discusting nationalist, racist, classist, colonialist,...shit.

I like eugen and what he's done for the fediverse (and have a great respect for that), but anytime I think about him being part of that #projectEUnomia I'm like wtf, seriously wtf, I don't get it. like working with companies that literly work towards killing people at/through national borders. (while hoping he's not really helping them, but taking the cash. pls.)

In this thread I will mentioning *some* of the projects #INOV, founding partner of #EUnomia is involved in.

#TRILLION, "an open, flexible, secure and resilient socio-technical platform to foster effective communication and collaboration between citizens and law enforcement officers.

#ALFA: "It will bridge the existing capability gap of current operational surveillance systems for border control." "The ALFA project is expected to increase surveillance capabilities contributing to the prevention of cross border crimes" "
ALFA will: "contribute further to the development of EUROSUR"

#Eurosur "is a surveillance system of the European Union (EU) that uses drones, reconnaissance aircraft, offshore sensors and satellite remote sensing, to track illegal immigration into the member states of the European Union."
In specific ALFA will work on detecting low flying aircrafts.

...so, the company #INOV that also makes research to 'combat unregulated' border crossings has through #FilipaBorrego a position at #EUnomia as 'innovation Officer'.

#INOV that is part of #EUnomia has listed various projects on their page. (they do currently a research that involves studying the #fediverse and such)

I just clicked on the first, called #MARISA. It is funded sofar with 9,7 million. Part of its strategy is to compat what they call "iregular migration" The funding mostly comes from #Horizon2020

That is discusting, unethical, racist, colonialistic, nationalistic...

We need open routes that people in need can take. No harassment, no murder.

In context of this, their secound listed project #ALFA speaks:

"Protecting European borders against... almost undetected border crossings, especially coastal borders. Therefore, a system is needed that can add to existing surveillance means and significantly increases the detection probability"
