It isn't unusual for people (and especially photographers) to get all dreamy about abandoned croft houses such as these when often the reality is much more prosaic. This family croft house simply wasn't up to modern standards, the new family house is the other side of the ridge. There is no real need to demolish this house, so it doesn't get demolished.

Don't know about you, but there are locations that I pass (regularly or not so) that seem to have the conditions just right for the photograph I want to take when I don't have the time to stop. This is one of the occasions that I had the time, but not the conditions.
