Just wondering who else on here works in research and could maybe tell me what people are saying in comments are on this article? In essence, the UK government agency that gives out grants to tech (clean tech, medicine etc) SMEs to do research hasn't been doing much for six months. We do have a massive issue with diversity in Tech. Look to the UK with the recent #innovateuk scandal.

There's very little opportunity for community grassroots FOSS.

@onepict they'd need to actually care about making shit happen rather than performative vanity "£Xm spent on innovation" projects for that.

I think it needs a complete overhaul (as does that whole system) but it's shameful they can't even manage to fund 50 women.

Not massively surprised, the two times I've been involved in #InnovateUK bids one involved a female founder, and the other a female co-founder, and both times failed (although I was the common factor across those, so maybe it's me 😀)

But it's heartbreaking seeing other women go through what amounts to a bait and switch with only 25 places instead of the promised 50 places being funded.

"Taking to LinkedIn, one founder wrote: “We were told there would be 50 awards available, so it’s a bit of a gut punch to see that only half of those were actually awarded.”"

While the EU does need to improve on diversity and equality in Tech, it's further along than some.

Take InnovateUK who's currently in a PR crisis, trying to rewrite history on it's website as women founders cry foul.
