On Saturday, Apparently a little girl, 3 years of age, fell down the stairs (needs to be confirmed) of the appartement block (more like an old house) where her uncle and aunt live. Instead of calling 112 (eu 999 or 911) her uncle reportedly ‘panicked’ and tried to pick up the toddler to take her to the hospital himself. When he did call the ambulance, he claimed the child had been knocked down in a hit and run accident on the nearby zebra crossing. Only, nobody had seen the accident. And the ambulance people got the child out of the uncle and aunt’s apartment. Both the uncle and the aunt have meanwhile been arrested. The little girl has died in hospital. #RIP Milou. And this happened on Saturday while I was in the kitchen. As the crow flies, this happened 100 yards from my backyard. Literally. If it had been an accident on the street, I would have heard it. I hear it when people fight in the road or the square behind my house. The same goes for road accidents. What was the uncle thinking?

  2. If your sky is clear, go outside and look up. Jupiter is very close to the moon, just above it (in the southeastern sky hereabouts in St. John's, Newfoundland). If you can see a dark sky, this is what you'll see.

The moon is bright, and there's a haze in the air here, but not enough to obscure the moons of Jupiter.

If you can zoom in on this picture you can see all four of the usual characters (L-R: Callisto, Io, Europa and Ganymede, though Io and Europa are so close together they look almost like one).

It doesn't matter what side you're on; when we look up, we all see the same bits of light up there.
