Not seen it before. Wow… can’t be many 70 yo films that are that riveting and so fantastic looking. Lots of layers to the story, some that have repeated after the making + a bit eastery. Glad I didn’t watch it in the middle of covid times :ablobthinkingfast: . The #BlackAndWhite just glows and you cant take your eyes off #MaxVonSydow.

"Send In the Clowns" is a song written by #StephenSondheim for the 1973 #musical #ALittleNightMusic, an adaptation of #IngmarBergman's 1955 film #SmilesOfASummerNight. It is a ballad from Act Two, in which the character Desirée reflects on the ironies and disappointments of her life. Among other things, she looks back on an affair years earlier with the lawyer Fredrik, who was deeply in love with her, but whose marriage proposals she had rejected.

It's kind of expensive, but I'm justifying it by framing it as me sticking it to the man: owning physical media rather than relying on streaming.

For all of its merit as a film contemplating the self-realization of forgiveness, the protagonist’s essence and the concept of choice & responsibility, “Wild Strawberries” (1957) is also an extremely literal film by having the protagonist literally drive into his own self awareness.

I never thought #IngmarBergman’s disavowal of his #Nazi sympathies of his youth was enough because I’ve never gotten a clear view of how much of that ideology he carried with him through his life and #StellanSkarsgård’s recent comments don’t make Bergman’s case any better. There’s a reason I won’t watch his films no matter how much Ingmar Bergman contributed to the art of movie making.

'My complicated relationship with Bergman has to do with him not being a very nice guy. He was a nice director, but you can still denounce a person as an asshole. Caravaggio was probably an asshole as well, but he did great paintings,' said the Swedish actor.

'Bergman was manipulative. He was a Nazi during the war and the only person I know who cried when Hitler died. We kept excusing him, but I have a feeling he had a very weird outlook on other people. [He thought] some people were not worthy. You felt it, when he was manipulating others. He wasn’t nice.'

'Cries and Whispers' è il nuovo album dei Corde Oblique, in uscita il 14 febbraio 2025 per The Stones of Naples Records.

Il gruppo partenopeo torna dopo cinque anni di silenzio discografico e lo fa con un gran disco. La creatura musicale di Riccardo Prencipe è un unicum a livello nazionale ed internazionale, con la sua musica sempre originale che nasce da una creatività senza fine, capace di agire su più livelli differenti. Questo ultimo lavoro è diviso in due parti : la prima si intitola “Cries” e tratta di qualcosa che Riccardo aveva in mente da molto tempo, ovvero tornare alle sue radici musicali in un contesto totalmente differente rispetto a quello della gioventù.
